Nothing Lamborghini has ever produced can be called sane. The Lamborghini Miura of decades ago was an incredibly beautiful car, but it was also incredibly expensive. Such has been the case with each new vehicle Lamborghini has produced since the company inception. Even Lamborghini’s current entry-level car, the Gallardo, costs around $100,000.

To celebrate the 50th birthday of the exotic carmaker, Lamborghini unveiled a one-of-a-kind concept vehicle called the Egoista powered by a 600 hp V10 engine.. That name translates to selfish. Why called the car selfish? The reason for the name is because only one person can drive in the car. Having something as cool as the Egoista, only making one of them, and then only allowing one person to enjoy it at the time is selfish indeed.

The car reminds me of something that would turn into a robot in the Transformers or Robotech universe. Lamborghini says that the car is designed to resemble the look of the Apache attack helicopter. I can see some of that resemblance in the angles and planes of the vehicle body.

The single person cockpit certainly looks like something straight out of the helicopter. The concept vehicle was designed Walter De Silva. One look at the car and it doesn’t appear to be something that could ever be driven on the roads legally in most countries. All the protuberances on the front of the vehicle look as if they were intended to be used in a rehash of Death Race 2000.

The cockpit is so tight that the vehicle uses a removable steering wheel along the lines of a racing car. The vehicle even has a choreographed routine that is required to get into the car and strap in. Anyone rich enough to afford a one-of-a-kind Lamborghini will be sad to hear that Lamborghini has no intentions of actually building this car or selling the one that they did construct.

The Lamborghini Pregunta, which made its debut at the 1998 Paris Auto Show, is now up for sale for 1.6 million euros, or $2.1 million. It was acquired by Autodrome, a French seller of rare and classic cars, who retrieved the Pregunta from the Italian branch of the French specialist of prototype cars, Carrosserie Hueliez. The Pregunta was the result of an order placed back in the 90′s with Hueliez for an one-off concept car that was based off a Diablo development car donated by Lamborghini.

The order asked for a car that was “new, original, and impossible to confuse with any other car’s shapes.” The car concept was the “last and ultimate special coachwork ever built on a Lamborghini base”, before the company was taken over by Audi. Lamborghini was going through a tough transitional phase during this period. Back in 1994, it was sold by Chrysler to the Megatech Group, and then purchased by Tommy Suharto, son of the former Indonesian president, before finally ending up in the hands of Audi.

The Lamborghini Pregunta features carbon fiber construction, rear-ward facing cameras (in place of mirrors), a 530hp V12 engine capable of a claimed top speed of 207mph. However, while it is based on the Diablo, it lacks the all-wheel drive of the Diablo and opts for a lighter, extreme rear-wheel drive design instead.

The Pregunta was inspired by both the Formula One, as well as the Aerospace industry. It features Dassault stealth external paintwork like the Dassault Rafale jet fighter, dynamic air intakes, fully electronic F-1 type Marelli instruments, 4 points Schrott safety belt harness, internal optical fiber lighting, a CDI Cristine GPS system, and combat jet-derived cockpit ergonomy. If you happen to have $2.1 million to spare, you can purchase it from Autodrome here.

It’s a lucky day for law enforcement personnel in Dubai, who might get the opportunity to issue some speeding tickets from behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Aventador, a vehicle that cost $550,000 and has been decked out with decidedly ugly police decals. Why add such an expensive vehicle to the patrol line? Reasons of because they can aside, it is said to be fast enough to deal with the high-speed drivers who travel Dubai’s highways.

The Lamborghini Aventador is a 700 horsepower, 8,250rpm beast capable of speeds over 200mph, featuring a carbon fiber and aluminium frame and a 0 to 62mph speed of 2.9 seconds. Such power will be used to pull over drivers who speed on the highway, with police figures in Dubai showing that 15-percent of drivers there are ticketed for driving over 130mph.

Still, such an extravagant purchase cannot be merely for utilitarian purposes, something evidenced by a statement by Dubai’s police force director that the Lamborghini displays the class of the city, illustrating the nature of the location with beautiful aesthetic appeal and the statement unspoken but immediately implied by such an expensive vehicle.

The Aventador has had some tweaks added for the patrol purposes, and sports a license plate with the number “8″ on it. Other sports cars will allegedly be added to the police department’s patrol line over time. Reactions to the news have been mixed, with many decrying it for various reasons ranging from cost to showboating, while others have praised the addition and a few have asked, tongue-in-cheek, to be arrested so they can go for a joy ride. You can check out the responses on Twitter via the hashtag #OnlyinDubai.

The Lamborghini Aventador is easily one of the most incredible and best-performing sports cars in all the world. It also happens to be one of the most expensive sports cars in the world. A company called Cars for Starts has unveiled a Lamborghini Aventador concept that has been turned into a stretch limousine.

The typical Aventador, if you can call a snarling Lamborghini typical, has a pair of doors that lift into the air and those doors are a Lamborghini trademark. The stretch Lamborghini has two of those doors on each side. The images you see here show a conceptual design for the stretch limousine, whether or not the Lamborghini limo will actually be built remains to be seen.

Considering that the Aventador has a massive engine producing 690 hp, I don’t think the stretch the version of the exotic sports car will require any additional power to get those lucky enough to ride inside around town. Cars for Stars is seeking a sponsor to help them bring the stretch Lamborghini from a concept to the real world.

The company is offering 12 months of free advertising for anyone who sponsors the project and will name the car to incorporate the name of the company. I think the car needs a better name than Aventador Limo, I vote for Limotador. If the vehicle should actually come to the real world the company promises that it will have heated seats, rear plasma screens, surround sound, iPod docks, a wet bar, and lots more. Check out the rendered video showing more details of the concept car below.

It looks like the Lamborghini Veneno just couldn’t wait to be shown off at the Geneva Motor Show event later today. The car has been revealed right before the show is set to take place, and it shows off the beauty of Italian craftsmanship. The Lamborghini Veneno was inspired by and created to mark Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary, and it’s going to take on the likes of the McLaren P1 and the successor to the Ferrari Enzo.

The Lamborghini Veneno has a price tag of about $4,600,000 or around 3.5 million euros, which is unfortunately way over our budgets (or anyone’s budget who isn’t in the top 1%). But that’s alright, because Lamborghini only made three of these cars and all three have already been sold. Each car will feature one of the colors from the Italian flag (green, white or red) to show off their uniqueness. The Veneno being shown off at the Geneva Motor Show, however, will display all three colors on its door.

The Lamborghini Veneno’s design was based off of the Lamborghini Aventador. It sports a 740 horsepower 6.5 liter V12 with a seven-speed single-clutch ISR transmission and all-wheel-drive. The Lamborghini Veneno is reported to have a top speed of 220 miles per hour and will be able to go from 0-62 time in under 3 seconds. The Veneno will also feature a beautiful, all carbon fiber body.

The Veneno is truly a beauty and a beast and will spark envy amongst all of those attending the Geneva Motor Show. The owners of the Lamborghini Veneno, with two of them being located in the United States, will revel in the fact that they will possess a car that’s one of a kind. With the Veneno, the Ferrari Enzo, and the McLaren P1 being shown off tonight, the Geneva Motor Show looks like it will be incredible.

Lamborghini has officially unveiled a new roadster version of its top-of-the-line Aventador. The car is called the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster. Lamborghini says the new Roadster is recognized by the unique profile of the upper area extending along the newly designed geometric lines from the removable roof to the engine hood.

The removable roof of the car is made from two pieces of material and is constructed entirely from carbon fiber. Lamborghini teamed with RTM and Forged Composite to produce the roof for the Roadster. The technology used to build the roof guarantees aesthetic performance and stiffness while being easy to handle and extremely light.

The roof of the Roadster weighs under 6 kg. The roof sections are designed to be easy to handle and simple to attach with storage in the front luggage compartment of the car. The rear pillar of the Roadster also has an automatic protection system for passengers and provides ventilation for the rear engine compartment.

The Roadster has a power rear windshield that helps reduce the amount of air getting into the vehicle, and blocks sound from the massive 12-cylinder engine. The car has a removable wind deflector that can also be taken often stored in the luggage compartment. The car maintains incredible performance with acceleration from 0 to 100 km an hour in 3 seconds. The car sells for €300,000 plus tax.

Lamborghini is set to unveil new Gallardo models at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The new Gallardo models will include the LP 560-4 and LP 570-4 Edizione Technica. The LP 560-4 will feature permanent four-wheel drive and has a new front end and new rear end. Lamborghini will offer its new LP 570-4 Superleggera and LP 570-4 Spyder Performante as further enhanced Edizione Technica versions.

There are now six different models in the Gallardo family that Lamborghini says are all clearly differentiated and aimed at different types of drivers. The new Gallardo models will be available in Lamborghini dealership starting this November. The LP 560-4 gets a revised front end using triangular and trapezoidal forms, and in Lamborghini design. The new car has larger air intakes ahead of the front wheels and 19-inch “Apollo Polished” alloy wheels painted matte black with precision-machine spokes and polished silver.

The car also has a redesigned rear end to match the front. The LP 570-4 Edizion Technica (pictured) is a lighter-weight design for the Gallardo as is the LP 570-4 Spyder Performante. These two cars are the pinnacle of the Gallardo family according to Lamborghini.

These two lightweight models boast a power to weight ratio of 2.35 according to Lamborghini, which presumably means 2.35 pounds per horsepower. Both those cars are also four-wheel drive models. Lamborghini purists wanting rear-wheel drive only will still be able to get the Gallardo LP 550-2 in Coupe or Spyder forms.

Lamborghini has officially revealed the new Urus SUV, a “super luxury” model with room for four and styling evolved from the company’s crazed sportscars. “Powerful, but not bulky” and “muscular and highly athletic, but also elegant” in Lamborghini’s words, the Urus – codenamed “LB736″ – is currently a concept but previews what the company expects to see hit the road in the next few years, bringing with it around 600hp and the sort of performance you’d hope for from the Italian bull.

Actual powerplants haven’t been settled upon – after all, the road-going version of the Urus concept isn’t expected until around 2015 – but Lamborghini apparently intends to do the near-impossible and balance huge amounts of grunt with eco-credentials. The company claims it will be an “everyday” vehicle, complete with lower CO2 emissions than rivals and space for not only four people in the carbon-fiber lavished interior, but their luggage too.

Measuring 4955 mm long, 1996 mm wide and 1660 mm high, the Urus will have a permanent all-wheel-drive system and a height-adjustable front spoiler that can be retracted for improving ground clearance but lowered when you want increased stability at speed. A further adjustable spoiler at the back helps with the latter, too, while the whole thing sits on 24-inch wheels.

The interior, in typical concept style, is a touchscreen madhouse where carbon-fiber and LCD TFT displays come together to make adult music. Four bucket seats, a few splashes of leather and an emphasis on keeping down the weight: Lamborghini claim the Urus is significantly lighter than its premium SUV competition, despite being longer and wider (though lower, too) than BMW’s X6.

Like engines, pricing hasn’t been decided. Still, Lamborghini aims to slot the production Urus in-between the Gallardo and Aventador models in its range, so figure on around $200,000 to $250,000.

Lamborghini‘s baby SUV has leaked, and if you’ve been desperate for an Italian bull in a pumped up suit then the Urus could be the car for you. Teased earlier today in a bizarre elemental video, the leaked press shots from AutoForum.cz show an angular, aggressive car with a crouching stance and an interior that’s never, ever going to make it to the showroom.

The dash is a chunk mass of carbon-fiber and touchscreen controls, with squinting vents and a bright red gear shifter. Meanwhile the seats are oddly sectional, a little like the shells of beetles. It’s a four-seater, like Range Rover’s Evoque, and we imagine rear headroom is going to be just as low as in the rival fashion-4×4.

Under the hood is expected to be a 5.2-liter V10 engine, capable of around 584 hp. Sizable figures, but then you’d expect little less from Lamborghini. However, the Urus is also expected to considerably undercut its rivals in curb weight, despite sharing the same underlying platform as the upcoming Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7 refresh, which should hopefully help keep it light on its toes.

No word on what we can expect in terms of pricing, but let’s be honest with ourselves: this is going to be an expensive, rare beast. Lamborghini should announce it officially imminently, and we’ll know more details then.

Lamborghini is mostly known for two things – tractors and exotic sports cars. Lamborghini got started making tractors for farmers and as the story goes, Mr. Lamborghini himself once purchased a Ferrari and was disappointed in the quality and performance of the car. He decided to build his own sports car, and the rest is history. There’ve been a lot of rumors recently that Lamborghini is getting ready to launch a new SUV. Presumably, the teaser video for that SUV has launched today.

Lamborghini has had an SUV in the past called the LM002 (pictured above), and it was suitably ugly. The only time I can remember seeing it on TV was an 80s cop show where the police raided drug dealers and were allowed to keep whatever they seized. The name of that show escapes me now. The new SUV concept images that have been floating around make it look a lot like a squished Gallardo on 4×4 suspension.

Whether or not the actual SUV will look the same as those images floating around is unknown. It seems strange for a company known for exotic sports cars be making an SUV, but SUVs are selling very well. Other sports carmakers such as Porsche and Audi produce SUVs, which are some of their best-selling models. Today Lamborghini released a new teaser video, which you can see below. It reminds me of a commercial for Wrath of the Titans more than the teaser for an exotic SUV.

Lamborghini have unveiled their new flagship car under the Aventador moniker, aptly titled the Aventador J. Why the J? It’s a reference to the Appendix J regulations which are intended for racing class cars. It has the same engine as the original Aventador, but a radically different design.

Underneath the hood of the Aventador J you’ll find a 6.5 litre V12 engine capable of 690 brake horse power. There’s also a seven speed gearbox and pushrod suspension. In terms of chassis, the Aventador J keeps the vertically opening doors, but loses a classic windshield and roof, instead opting for a split cockpit. The body is comprised entirely of carbon fibre to keep the weight down, with alloy wheels that have carbon inserts to provide additional cooling to the brakes.

The car is lighter than the original Aventado, and designed to handle better at high speeds. While the car is road legal, Lamborghini are only making one, and it will cost you a pretty penny indeed: a cool £1.75 million, which is around $2.75 million. The regular version of the Aventador is already shipping, for a more modest $379,700.

Lamborghini is debuting the new Aventador J roadster at the Geneva Motor Show this week. The vehicle features a radically open design that’s made with pure speed in mind. In fact, the car is so open, it doesn’t include a roof nor a front windshield, meaning drivers will have to wear a helmet in order to ride the two seater, which has been likened to a “sportsbike made for two.”

The Aventador J features the same 700hp 6.5 liter 12 cylinder engine as the Aventador LP700-4 coupe, but has eliminated almost everything unnecessary for boosting speed, such as climate control and a navigation system. The company has also decreased the weight of the vehicle through the use of a new carbon fiber fabric called “Carbonskin.” The supercar can reach speeds over 300kph or 186mph.

Lamborghini is haling the vehicle as the most radically designed open super sportscar in the company’s history and says the model is a one-off, meaning it’s a one-of-a-kind art piece. However, it will be available for sale following the Geneva Motor Show and it will truly be the one and only masterpiece, not even the Lamborghini Museum will have a copy.

This is epic. A race driver named Jason White and his navigator were breaking in their new Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale at the 2011 Targa High Mountain race. Things were going well and they were flying by Porsches and other lesser rides on their way around the course. Not far from the end of the race the team noticed that their ride was on fire.

You can see the video to get the teams full reaction. It boils down to “we are on fire and it’s pretty big, should we stop,” from the driver. The navigator says “nah, let’s go on and put it out at the top.” That is just what they did as they flew around the course with the entire rear end of the Lambo in flames.

Not only did the team power on to the finish before worrying about the flames, they actually won the race. The driver noted that they didn’t know what made the new car catch on fire. He also says at one point they could actually feel the heat from the flames.

It’s not every day that a man wins a lime green Lamborghini automobile anywhere in the world, much less in Utah, and even less likely is the very real event that happened less than 6 hours after mister David Dopp took his brand new machine out for a spin: he spun out. Crashing your brand new automobile stings pretty badly, though whether it hurts more to crash a car you paid for or one you won in a contest – Dopp has firsthand experience with the latter. Would you feel terrible if you scratched that ever-loving electric exterior?

The vehicle this fellow won was the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Roadster, the contest one titled “Joe Schmo to Lambo” and hosted by a chain of gas stations by the name of Maverik. Having a peek at this winning photo showing Dopp next to his new auto holding the gigantic YOU WON sign makes us all the more depressed that he likely hit some black ice with it very soon after. Dopp reported to the police that though he was only driving 40-50 miles per hour, he lost control of the vehicle on a section of road with a 35 mile per hour speed limit.

That’s fast, but not fast enough to warrant any “OH MY GOD WHY” warnings, mind you, and Dopp says he lost control when he hit either some black ice or gravel. Luckily Dopp had full insurance on the vehicle and both he and his passenger weren’t hurt at all. Have a peek at a video of Dopp speaking about his vehicle here — unfortunately no awesome video of the crash is available at this time.

This week the newest ASUS Lamborghini collaboration in the VX65 has been both benchmarked and teased by ASUS in the form of a lovely new wallpaper. This device is set to be released with a sweet Intel Atom CedarTrail D2700 2.13 GHz CPU, AMD Radeon 6470M GPU, and has a 12-inch display under a hood that looks very much to be a fire red (or orange, whatever you want to call it) Lamborghini sports car. This goes up against the Pine Trail/ION2-powered VX6 Lamborghini ASUS predecessor as well as the Asus EEE PC 1215 running a relatively comparable chipset. Who will come out on top? I think you know the answer to that.

These three devices are all powerhouses in their own right, and you’ve got to note that the newest ASUS doesn’t yet have a final build on it. That said, below you’ll find just a couple of benchmarks while the rest are sitting on NetBookLive where they originated from. Have a peek at what it means to be running the newest bit of automotive inspired computer design:

What you’ll see is first PC Mark 05, which is a CPU-based test, then 3DMark 06, which tests graphics. This Asus Lamborghini VX6 will cost you anywhere between $500 and $700 and the EEE PC 1215B rights right around the $300 range. The newest Lamborghini model is set to cost $500 USD+ and will be released SOON. While you wait, click the thumbnail in the gallery below for a sweet wallpaper coming straight from ASUS official.

A few names in the automotive industry are known for nothing other than raw performance and speed. These brands don’t make cars that most of us will ever be able to own due to the sheer cost. These are brands like Ferrari, Bugatti, and Lamborghini. Lamborghini has unveiled a new model in its Gallardo line and this is the most extreme example of the Gallardo to wear the raging bull on the hood.

The car has a long name, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale and it is intended and designed solely to bring racing tech and excitement to the road for a few very lucky drivers. The car shares the same V10 engine that the pure race Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo uses in the single make racing series with no changes. The new Lambo gets the same rear spoiler as the race car for more aerodynamic load. The car is also made to be lightweight at 1340 kilograms.

That weight and the big V10 gives the new Lambo a power-to-weight ratio of 2.35 kilograms per HP. The car can run 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 320 Km/h. There will be only 150 of these cars made and the default color will mix black accents with Rosso Mars paint and on request, it will also be offered in Grigio Telesto (grey) or Bianco Monocerus (white) colors. The car has full time all-wheel drive and an e-gear transmission. The price is unknown, but if you have to ask.

With all the look-alike notebooks these days, for those who need something that stands out to flaunt their taste for luxury, ASUS has their Lamborghini edition mini notebooks. We’ve seen the ASUS Lamborghini Eee PC VX6 before with its glossy shell, but at Computex 2011, ASUS is showing off a successor called the VX6S with some upgraded specs.

On the outside, the new Lamborghini VX6S looks almost identical to its predecessor. The case and design still have the same style keyboard and trackpad. The only things noticeably different was that the VX6S on display was sporting a bright orange glossy hood and the palm rest was covered in leather.

The real changes are on the inside, where ASUS has now upgraded the processor and switched the graphics card from the NVIDIA ION to the AMD Radeon HD 6470M. The specs listed also mentions AMD’s HD3D capabilities of the graphic chip, which could mean a 3D display for the VX6S.

However, the display model was only a prototype, and the ASUS reps deliberated a bit when asked about possible 3D support before answering “no.” A lot of the specs could still be up in the air and even misprinted. The spec list had the words “New Intel Atom Processor NM10″ when NM10 is actually the Express Chipset used for Atom D510.

Nonetheless, the other specs are fairly standard with a 12.1-inch display, Bluetooth, Wireless N, 500 GB hard-drive, card-reader, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Pricing and release date are not yet available.

These accessories are made not just for your already branded Lamborghini wares, but for the rest of your electronics as well.
Then there’s the really sharp, super suave looking Lamborghini WX-wireless mouse with laser precision. It’s got a range of 10-meters (why on earth would you be that far away?) and has a scroll wheel that looks and feels like a tire. Cute! Finally, a set of external harddrives (not pictured) that’ll be in one size: 640GB and will be available in black or white, both with a fine gloss scratch-resistant coating. Sassy!

Asus has been lucky enough to use the Lamborghini name for a few of their popular gadgets over the years. Dating all the way back to 2008, when their laptop broke cover, and even their ZX1 smart phone made its debut. And, the name and product placement must be working pretty well for the pair of companies, because a brand new member of the lineage has just made its way through the FCC. Please welcome the XW-Lamborghini Wireless mouse into the family, everyone.

The mouse is of the wireless laser mouse variety, and as you can see from the image, it sports a very unique and distinctive look. There’s lots of sharp edges and a definite angular appeal to it. Just from looking at it, it doesn’t look all that comfortable, but when you’re travelling at high speeds, clicking repeatedly, who wants to be comfortable, right? Well, probably everyone, but it has the Lamborghini emblem on it, so that should make everything all better.

It will have a nano USB receiver, to make sure that your connection doesn’t waver. The mouse itself will be powered by a single AA battery, so hopefully the lifespan on this guy isn’t too bad. There’s no word quite yet on when the WX-Lamborghini wireless mouse will be ready for retail shelves, or for how much.

It took a year’s work and $3,000 worth of parts, but 25-year-old mechanic Chen Jenmiao finally – almost – has the car of his dreams. The DIY Lamborghini may not have the heritage of an authentic Italian thoroughbred, but neither is it quite as expensive and Chen shouldn’t have to worry about breaking too many speed limits: it’ll max out at between 60 and 90mph.

Before you get too critical of its slab-sided lines and slightly rustic finish, it’s worth remembering that Chen did it all by hand in his spare time. While it probably wouldn’t make it through road safety checks in the US or Europe, some enthusiasm and elbow-grease look to be enough to get the car onto the roads of Chenzhou city in the Hunan province of China.

Most of us are after mobile phones that offer the features we want to keep us entertained and working. For normal geeks that means we look to feature packed devices like the sexy new Motorola DROID. For the wealthy user often form comes before function and this type of user wants a phone that looks good. For the well-heeled mobile phone fan TAG Heuer has a new mobile phone called the MERIDIIST Automobili Lamborghini phone.

The handset is housed in 316L stainless steel covered in black titanium carbide. The device is built with design cues from the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 super car. Each phone is engraved on the back with its limited edition number and the keyboard has the Lamborghini trademark bull logo.

The crystal of the device is made from 60.5 carats of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Battery life is promised to be seven hours of talk time and 28 days on standby. Other features include a backlit stainless steel keypad, 2MP camera, audio playback capability, and dual LCD screens. The top screen is an OLED with a resolution of 96 x 16 and the front screen is 1.9-inches with a 240 x 320 resolution. The device supports MMS, SMS, WAP browsing, PC sync, and worldwide GSM/GPRS networks. Pricing is unknown, but you know what they say about if you have to ask. It will be sold through select Lamborghini and TAG Heuer retailers.

Lamborghini may not be the first brand you’d associate with a hybrid, but then again you wouldn’t assume they’d make a four-door saloon and look what they did with the Estoque. The car company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has revealed that Lamborghini will release a hybrid version of their Gallardo supercar in 2015.

Speaking to German-language car magazine Automobilewoche, Winkelmann revealed that rather than a 100-percent electric sportscar in the mold of the Tesla, the hybrid Gallardo will use a small electric motor for urban traffic. When the road opens up, however, the full petrol engine will kick in; Lamborghini haven’t decided on a 10- or 12-cylinder engine, but either way we doubt the car will lack urgency.

If it proves a commercial and engineering success, the company are considering applying the hybrid technology to their Murcielago. No word on how much you should set aside for your new, earth-friendly Lambo come 2015, but considering the “entry level” Gallardo comes in at over $201,000 we’d suggest the biggest piggy-bank you can find.

If you’re going to slap one of the best-known supercar brands on your notebook, you better have some serious computing horsepower growling underneath. Happily ASUS have given their VX5 Lamborghini notebook an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 processor and 1TB SSD, which should go some way to living up to that raging bull logo. According to BangBangTech, the VX5 should be landing in the UK come August.

Italians – who may be more blasé about Lamborghinis racing through their streets – will be able to pick up the ASUS VX5 before the end of June. There’s no word on when it might cross the Atlantic and hit US soil.

Unfortunately they’re also keeping quiet on pricing, perhaps because they know that many of us will have a small heart attack upon hearing the final sticker tag. A combination of Lamborghini’s branding tithe and the high-spec components – a 16-inch 1080p capable LCD display, NVIDIA GeForce GT130M graphics and 4GB of DDR3 RAM don’t come cheap – should push this up to relatively stratospheric levels.

In netbooks, ASUS slipped in a few new models at both the low and high-end of the market, with the Eee PC 900HA and 904HA offering bargain 160GB storage while the S101 corners the more-fashionable (and expensive) end. That’s a niche the ASUS N10 already occupies; that netbook ran the review gauntlet this week, proving “technologically clever” but simply too expensive. ASUS – and MSI, whose Wind U90 was panned too – must be looking enviably at Gigabyte’s M912M convertible touchscreen netbook, which was good enough to pull a credit card from the wallet of one reviewer.

Moving from small screens to large, Panasonic wheeled out their 150-inch plasma prototype and promptly gave every child within a forty mile radius square eyes. At $140,000 it’s even more expensive than the new Lamborghini Estoque concept – the company’s first four-door saloon, and a 170mph one at that – I know which I’d prefer.

On smaller wheels, but then with a smaller price-tag, WowWee’s Rovio WiFi robot came out shining in reviews this week, and could just be the toy to beat come the holidays.

In cellphones, Nokia finally debuted their S60 Touch OS in the shape of the 5800 XpressMusic. A touchscreen multimedia device with HSDPA and, from next year, Comes With Music – offering unlimited audio downloads for 12 months – it’s not going to challenge the iPhone but the consensus is that it’s a sign of good things to come from the Finns.

Speaking of good things to come, how about Denon’s flagship SACD player? It looks to be hewn almost from solid aluminum and should have equally reliable audio performance. Less convincing is the recently-leaked Amazon Kindle 2 ebook; has the retail giant taken a step backward with ergonomics, in mistakenly chasing aesthetics?

SlashGear also brought you an interview with the Sleek Audio guys, on the eve of their lossless wireless system; we’ll have the full review of their SA6 earphones this coming week. We also featured a hands-on report of ShopSavvy, the award winning Android app running live on the T-Mobile G1. Finally, because it’s always fun to see expensive things falling great heights, check out this Samsung SSD drop-test demo. A three-story fall and yet it still works? I’m not sure we could say the same about anything else from this week.

Say what you like about the Lamborghini Estoque concept – and some will love it, some will hate it - but it certainly sticks in your head. Lamborghini’s four-door 170mph saloon has been wowing crowds at the Paris autoshow, and Autoblog stopped by to grab some photos. In the metal, the Estoque apparently works as a more coherent design, although they do suggest that it might have been rushed together to meet the deadline and could do with “a couple more drafts”.

A common observation is that the rear three-quarters looks more than a little bit like the Dodge Challenger, and that from the side it can appear more stretched than it should be. Nonetheless, there’s plenty of time before the Estoque is tipped to turn up in showrooms in 2011 for Lamborghini to fettle the design.

The proof of the pudding will probably be in the driving and the interior. Shots inside the car are quite rare, but considering some people looking at the Estoque will be riding in the back, with a chauffeur up front, that could make a big difference. Lamborghini themselves have said that, despite the low height, the rear seats are still relatively commodious, but it’ll take some hands-on time (sadly not by us here at SlashGear, I fear) to decide whether that’s true. As for the driving, Lamborghini’s existing petrol engines are unlikely to disappoint, but it’ll be interesting to see whether the eventual turbodiesel or hybrid petrol-electric engine can balance the company’s sports ethos with some degree of environmental concern.

When Porsche do it, I can cope. Aston Martin I can deal with. But a four-door saloon from Lamborghini? That just sounds blasphemous. However crippling economic climates demand stranger things, and so feast your eyes on the Lamborghini Estoque concept: a four-door, five meter long, V8-powered monster of a vehicle, predicted to hit showrooms in 2011 with a price-tag around $130,000.

The concept may use a V8, but Lamborghini are being upfront about their aspiring eco credentials. The production model will likely be offered with the storming V10 from the Gallardo, but they’re also considering a choice of turbodiesel or possibly hybrid petrol electric engines so as to hit a target CO2 emissions figure of 300g/km. Not exactly a Prius, but then Lamborghini buyers will be expecting superlative performance along with their rear seats.

They’ll get it, too: 0-60mph in under 5s, with a top speed of 170mph. A dual-clutch sequential manual transmission, 22-inch wheels on the front and 23-inch on the back are also tipped to cross over from the concept to the production Estoque; it’s uncertain whether the same can be said for the low height, with the car being a mere 1.35m tall (though with enough room for a couple of golf bags in the boot, if you want to be really blasphemous).

Lamborghini hope to sell 2500-3000 of the Estoque every year, basically doubling their current total sales figures. A large percentage of these sales are expected to be in growth markets such as Russia and the far east.

Update: More photos and video of the Estoque here
