Thanks to Microsoft's Xbox 360 Kinect motion-sensing device, hand gesturing is becoming more and more popular, and a lot of innovative companies are trying out the device themselves to come up with new ways to control things through hand gestures. Toyota has made a skateboard concept using a Kinect camera and a Windows 8 tablet to demonstrate some of the technology that the auto manufacturer may possibly implement into their vehicles in the future. Kinect joins the Windows 8 fun with developer support SDK

This week the folks at Microsoft have decided to add Kinect for desktop support to the Windows 8 Desktop app support collection with a full software development kit. This kit will help developers work with the Windows 8-compatible Kinect-running app universe and includes a set of features never before available with the hardware. Company officials have made it clear that developers that've requested the updated kit should start receiving it today - of course you could simply head on over to the Developer Center and grab it now as well, if you wanted. We've had a rather interesting Tuesday here at SlashGear, thanks in no small part to RIM. The company held its BlackBerry Jam today, introducing us to new BlackBerry 10 features like Peek and Flow. We also learned that BlackBerry 10 will come with support for your favorite social networks, even offering a native Facebook app. Carrier testing on the new mobile OS will begin next month, and RIM CEO Thorsten Heins said that BlackBerry has a good shot at becoming number three behind Android and iOS. We've seen amateur and professional developers alike do some really cool things with Microsoft's Kinect since the motion control peripheral launched in 2010. If you weren't convinced by the Xbox 360 Essentials Pack revealed earlier today, Microsoft has another deal for you gamers out there - a $40 price cut on the Kinect. This piece of hardware is the sensor that allows your body to become the controller, connected here to the Xbox 360 with a "permanent price drop" on the books now per Microsoft's own Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. Microsoft cancels Flight and Project Columbia development

Earlier this year, Microsoft released Microsoft Flight, a reinvention of its Flight Simulator games of the past. Now the company has reportedly cancelled further development of the game and laid off around 35 staff members involved in the production. Fifa 13 Kinect will be influenced by swearing

The Kinect has seen some interesting uses from various games, with some trying to incorporate the motion controls directly into gameplay, while others use it as a learning tool, but Fifa 13 may take things one step further. According to The Telegraph, Fifa 13 will listen in on the player and pick up any swearing or bad language using the Kinect’s microphone.
