Kindle Fire HD introduced with new 8.9-inch size
This week the folks at Amazon have revealed a set of Kindle Fire devices that take their original hit and make it high definition. There are two sizes here, one with an 8.9-inch display and another with a 7-inch display, the 8.9-inch display having a lovely 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. This new larger device has IPS LCD display technology and works with 254 PPI – and it’s more expensive than the Kindle Fire’s regular refresh, of course.
Kindle Fire refreshed with $159 price point
This week the folks at Amazon have revealed the brand new Kindle Fire , an addition to what they've noted is their "#1 best selling item on Amazon" since it was introduced. The new version of the Kindle Fire is coming with a faster processor, twice the amount of RAM it had originally, and what they're letting us know is 40% faster performance than before. This device will have longer battery life as well, and will be appearing for $159 on September 14th - and ordering these tablets starts today.

Kindle Paperwhite 3G priced at $179 while original gets price chop
The new Kindle Paperwhite is official, an ereader with a display technology from Amazon that's bringing on a whole new level of readability. With this device you'll be able to easily adjust the light which flows through the display and the whole display has become a whole new level of sharp as well. The Kindle Fire was a big inspiration for this device, Amazon noted, with such features as cover mode - allowing you to look at all the content on the device in addition to the cloud.

“Kindle Fire is a service” pushes Amazon’s Jeff Bezos
After a short video showing the power of the Kindle in the past, present, and future, the Amazon event this week prepared the press for the next generation with their own Jeff Bezos speaking before the crowd. He let them know that they want to move forward with the spirit of Amazon and that "we LOVE to invent" may very well be their main point here in 2012. He spoke also about how the Android tablet market flooded right at the start, and how this flood created an environment where noone wanted to buy one - but Amazon is smart, he implies, and customers are smart, he says.

Amazon’s new Kindles are almost here (and lateness doesn’t matter)
The clock is ticking, and Amazon is building up to wow us at its Kindle event in just a few hours time. Expectations are high, and yet Amazon is – unusually for the company – playing catch-up, in hardware if not market share. Barnes & Noble pipped it to the post with the backlit NOOK Simple Touch with GLowLight, and – if the phone chatter is true – it trails Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Nexus and other big names to the smartphone segment.
‘Paperwhite’ Kindle struts its stuff in leaked images
Amazon is widely assumed to be gearing up for a new Kindle Fire reveal next week, but recent rumors are also telling us that it might launch a new E Ink Kindle as well. If these new images from The Verge are the real deal, then we might be looking at the next E Ink Kindle, which appears to be a refresh of the Kindle Touch. As you can see from the images, Amazon is using the phrase "Paperwhite" to describe this Kindle, but whether or not that's the name of this new device remains to be seen.

New Kindle shows up at FCC, Amazon acquires ‘Firedock’ trademark
Last week, we caught word that a new Kindle Fire had apparently cleared the FCC. Today The Digital Reader has uncovered another Kindle device that has passed through the FCC, but whereas the device from last week appeared the be the next iteration of the Kindle Fire, this one seems to have more in common with the regular Kindle. Amazon’s next Kindle Fire may have just hit the FCC
We’ve heard word in the past that Amazon is working on a sequel to the Kindle Fire, with the company reportedly aiming at a larger form factor compared to the current 7-inch screen. The Digital Reader has done some detective work and come across what may be an FCC filing of Amazon’s next tablet, believing that the online internet retailer may have used a front company to file the documents in order to sneak the tablet under the radar.

Amazon Digital Media Innovation Hub will push next-gen content delivery
Amazon is boosting its R&D work into digital media, including "interactive digital services" for consoles, smart TV, tablets and other mobile devices, with a new Digital Media Innovation Hub opening in the UK. The new 47,000 sq. ft. center in Central London will pull together software engineers, UI experts and graphic designers, who will likely be responsible for not only bringing Amazon's site up to date, but for developing the next-gen Kindle Fire tablet interface and software for the much-rumored Kindle smartphone.

10-inch Kindle Fire tipped as Amazon new iPad challenge imminent
Amazon's larger Kindle Fire is still in the pipeline, sources insist, scaling up from the existing 7-inch slate as Apple reportedly scales down to tweener tablet levels. A namedrop in the same NYT article that threw further weight against the iPad mini rumors, according to unnamed developers the retailer is pushing ahead with what's tipped to be a roughly 10-inch variant of the Kindle Fire, bringing the challenge to Apple's new iPad.
