Apple updates iWork suite for mobile/desktop compatibility

Eric Schmidt spoke this week at MWC about the growth of the mobile world, focusing on the developing world, the "digital oasis," where access to the internet is still a rarity, but where technology will bring it to them at an exponential rate. "Smartphones do not have to talk to a central hub," he said, "they can just talk to each other." Using Bluetooth and other technologies you can use Mesh Networks to connect - "Mesh is a stepping stone for connectivity." Schmidt continued hoever that "Noone is suggesting that technology will suddenly transform the social political and economic situations of peoples lives. But it certainly can improve them." Verizon CEO canceling keynote appearance at CES

Well, what's up with this, Verizon? The chief executive of the largest telecom carrier in the nation has apparently just abruptly canceled his appearance in a keynote panel at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, according to company reports. Verizon stated that a conflicting change in schedule is preventing CEO Lowell McAdam from attending the Las Vegas-based technology conference this month, the company confirmed this to Reuters. Apple iPhone 4S keynote video now available

Apple didn’t offer live streaming of the Let’s Talk iPhone event this morning, but the company has now posted the video on its website. The event is the first major keynote with new Apple CEO Tim Cook at the helm. He was accompanied by Apple execs Scott Forstall, Eddy Cue, and Phil Schiller to unveil the iPhone 4S, iOS 5, iCloud, and the Siri voice control Assistant feature.

The second gigantic keynote at Uplinq 2011 was HTC’s show, starting with word of NFC, Cloud Data, and 4G. The event continued with the keyword HTC Watch – this, Peter Chou, CEO of HTC noted, will be a Global media hub that’s deeply integrated into HTC allowing for an immersive experience. It’s also noted that HTC will now be working with Onlive for a rich gaming experience.

Qualcomm Uplinq 2011 Keynote #1: 3D, Peer-to-Peer Gaming, Augmented Reality

This particular Qualcomm keynote on a lovely June 1st morning began with Dr Paul Jacobs, Chairman and CEO of Qualcomm noting some impressive numbers on a large stage with one gigantic colorful screen behind him flowing with ribbons of light. Jacobs noted that they’ve got word that mobile data is expected to grow 10-12 fold by 2015, this punctuated by the completely odd addition of “Real D 3D” glasses on everyone’s seats. Next Jacobs noted that 1 BILLION Qualcomm BREW-powered devices had already been shipped, and notes that “today’s market [is one where people] don’t really care about what their next PC is going to be.”
