KDDI Sony Ericsson Xmini Walkman phone

Japanese carrier KDDI have announced a tiny new Walkman phone by Sony Ericsson.  The Xmini slider measures just 44 x 75 x 18mm, and has a touch-sensitive control surface that lights up with music transport buttons when the phone is closed.  Read The Full Story

KDDI Casio Exilim W63CA 8MP cameraphone with WVGA AMOLED display

KDDI have announced a new 8.1-megapixel cameraphone for the Japanese market, the Casio Exilim W63CA.  As well as the high-resolution camera, wide-angle lens and nine-point autofocus, the W63CA also has a 3.1-inch AMOLED WVGA display, running at 480 x 800.  There's also a YouTube mode, which automatically records 30fps VGA video and stores it to microSD for uploading. KDDI demo WVGA OLED and 3D LCD for upcoming cellphones

KDDI have been demonstrating two new displays that will likely find their way into future cellphones from the company.  On show at CEATEC JAPAN 2008, the first panel is a 3.1-inch OLED running at 800 x 480 WVGA resolution; developed by Samsung, it offers the usual improved color reproduction and lower power requirements of OLED together with the ability to show finer detail in text and media.
