KDDI Toshiba IS02 (aka TG02) hits Japan in June

It's not just Sharp's new IS01 that's arriving in Japan sometime this year; carrier KDDI has also announced that it will be offering the Toshiba TG02 as the KDDI Toshiba IS02.  First launched at Mobile World Congress last month, the IS02 is a Windows Mobile 6.5.3 smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 4.1-inch OLED touchscreen; unlike the GSM/UMTS versions demonstrated in Barcelona, however, the KDDI phone will have EVDO Rev.A. Sharp IS01 Android MID for KDDI packs multitouch, EVDO Rev.A

Japanese carrier KDDI have unveiled their own Android based offering, and rather than a smartphone it's a 3G-enabled MID.  The Sharp IS01 packs Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 5-inch 960 x 480 multitouch display and a full QWERTY keyboard, together with integrated EVDO Rev.A, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. KDDI fuel cell for mobile phone offers plenty of talk time

I for one really look forward to the day when recharging my notebook or cell phone simply means squirting more fuel into its fuel cell rather than searching for an AC outlet. Fuel cells are coming for sure and a few of them are already on the market like the offering from Medis, though they aren’t quite what most of us want. KDDI Corp have been showing off two microSD cards with integrated WiFi b/g in Japan this week.  Although SD cards with integrated WLAN are not uncommon - Eye-Fi is a good example of the technology, used to add wireless photo and video uploads to digital cameras and camcorders - it's more unusual to find the components sufficiently shrunk down to fit on a microSD card. KDDI Casio Exilim W63CA 8MP cameraphone with WVGA AMOLED display

KDDI have announced a new 8.1-megapixel cameraphone for the Japanese market, the Casio Exilim W63CA.  As well as the high-resolution camera, wide-angle lens and nine-point autofocus, the W63CA also has a 3.1-inch AMOLED WVGA display, running at 480 x 800.  There's also a YouTube mode, which automatically records 30fps VGA video and stores it to microSD for uploading.
