Jolicloud Jolibook Official Press Photos Now Available (2 Sizes?)

Up until now, there's only been a set of little-to-see teaser images of this little lady, but now there's official press shots of the 10.1 inch netbook being released through Flickr. It's a cute little bugger with a lovely cartoony top and - what's that? One of these backs appears to be bigger than the other. If you take a look at the laptop with the bigger battery, you'll notice that an ever-so-slightly amount of the edges of the picture are bent around the left and right sides or gone, where on the non-giant-battery image shows more. Two different sizes?

Jolicloud 1.0 Bringing Touch Support Some Time in the Future [Video]

Whens' the last time we saw a Jolicloud video demo? A little over a year ago. Sure, the Linux-based Operating System went into "pre-Beta" back in December, but we can safely say that it's been quite awhile since we last saw the social OS. Now, here we are that year later, and we get word from Jolicloud themselves that they're actually working on upgrading the OS, and doing so means support for touch-based screens, of course.

JoliCloud enters pre-Beta

JoliCloud, an optimized Linux based OS aimed directly at netbooks has just entered public pre-beta. This change comes bundled as two updates. Immediate differences include a new welcome screen and, most notably, the newly added ability to be installed directly from your Windows 7 or Windows XP machine. Additionally there will be added support for the GMA 500 chipsets. With these new additions 98% of all netbooks on the market are currently supported. There are currently plans to support the NVIDIA ION chip set however so far that update has yet to be released.

Jolicloud “SocialOS” alpha gets video demo

Watch out Moblin and Android - if Jolicloud have any say in things, your path to netbook OS domination won't be so smooth.  In the works since late 2008, Jolicloud is based on Ubuntu and has been fettled for faster boot times and improved internet surfing.  It's also been customized for cloud computing, with Jolicloud's creators describing it as a Social OS; Sascha from NetbookNews grabbed a demo video at Computex today.
