Wi-Fi Sync getting 3G and VPN support; temporarily half price

Last we heard of Wi-Fi Sync, the app which allows you to wireless synchronize your Apple device with iTunes, it had been updated for Windows and the iPad; now developer Greg Hughes is adding 3G and VPN support.  The app - only available in the Cydia store for jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices, since Apple refused it entry into the official App Store - is also on sale, at $4.99. Spirit jailbreak for iPad and iPhone released

The iPhone Dev Team had promised a jailbreak for the iPad "soon" after the 3G variant's release, and they weren't kidding around.  Spirit is an untethered jailbreak - i.e. you don't need to regularly plug the iPad (or indeed any iPhone or iPod touch running 3.1.2, 3.1.3 or 3.2) into your computer to maintain the hack - and takes advantage of an existing security hole in iPhone OS. iPad jailbreak promised soon after 3G model’s release

We've already heard about the first iPad WiFi + 3G deliveries being made - early - to preorder customers, but today's the day when the cellular-enabled iPad makes its official debut at Apple Stores.  Interestingly, it sounds like the iPhone Dev Team are ramping up for an iPad jailbreak release too; according to their blog, the "Spirit" jailbreak - the underlying technique of which was demonstrated within 24hrs of the iPad WiFi's launch at the beginning of the month - will be made public "at some point after" the iPad WiFi + 3G going on sale.
