Jaguar F-Type coupe unofficially previewed (but you’ll have to wait until 2014)

Jaguar's striking F-Type may already be wowing drivers as a convertible months out from launch, but it's taken some premature patent digging to see exactly what the eventual coupe version might look like. The car company has previously conceded that a hard-top F-Type will eventually reach forecourts, but has played it coy on how close to the original C-X16 concept it might be. Fortunately for us, while Jaguar's designers may be tight-lipped, its lawyers are a little more open.

Jaguar XFR-S revealed: This big cat has 550HP claws

Jaguar has pulled the wraps off of its XFR-S sports sedan, the big cat company's 186mph take on tightening up the luxobarge until your passengers squeak like field-mice. Teased last week as the fastest and most powerful four-door from Jaguar ever, the XFR-S made its debut at the LA Auto Show 2012, using a 5-liter supercharged V8 engine with 550PS good for a 0-60mph dash in 4.4s. However, Jaguar also says the XFR-S shouldn't make too great an impact in your eco-credentials, with the new car putting out the same emissions and fuel consumption figures as its XRF sibling.

Yesterday we heard that Damian Dinning, who served as the head of Nokia's camera and imaging department, was leaving the company. He'll be ending a 9 year tenure on November 30, but when this announcement was made, there will still a few mysteries left to figure out. Why was he leaving? Where is he going next? We've known it's coming, but Jaguar's new 2014 F-TYPE convertible still wowed at its official debut at the Paris Auto Show, a two-seater slice of achingly handsome design and finessed performance. The road-going evolution of the 2011 C-X16 concept, the new Jaguar will be available in three models - the F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and the F-TYPE V8 S - delivering up to 495PS and a top speed of 186mph, with the 0-60mph dash in as little as 4.2s.

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: September 25, 2012

We've had a rather interesting Tuesday here at SlashGear, thanks in no small part to RIM. The company held its BlackBerry Jam today, introducing us to new BlackBerry 10 features like Peek and Flow. We also learned that BlackBerry 10 will come with support for your favorite social networks, even offering a native Facebook app. Carrier testing on the new mobile OS will begin next month, and RIM CEO Thorsten Heins said that BlackBerry has a good shot at becoming number three behind Android and iOS.
