Jaguar officially unveiled the new F-Type R coupe in Los Angeles this week. The car is almost identical to the renders that surfaced in the unofficial preview back in May. The new F-Type R Coupe goes into the line along with the F-Type convertible and the F-Type S Coupe. The R coupe gets a supercharged V8 engine under the hood.
With the reveal of the Jaguar C-X17, the company has demonstrated the capabilities of their next-generation advanced aluminum unibody architecture. While it's been suggested that a release of the C-X17 in the consumer market is "prett feasible", Jaguar has made it clear that the lightweight architecture inside this beast is, indeed, ready to be featured in a real market-ready automobile. The first time consumers will see a vehicle on the market with Jaguar's new architecture will be inside 2015, with a North American launch in 2016, and the vehicle itself will be a mid-size premium C/D segment sedan.
The concept vehicle known as Jaguar C-X17 has been revealed in full today in Frankfurt - not as a production car, mind you, but as a concept that may very well see production in the near future. This is the first time Jaguar has launched into the CUV/SUV territory, and they've done so keeping the Jaguar design language from start to finish. This is thanks in a large way to Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum.
Jaguar's painfully powerful XKR-S GT has returned for another limited production run, with a further ten examples of the road-ready but track-prepared coupe set to go on sale. Following the thirty cars earmarked for North America at the New York International Auto Show earlier this year, Jaguar has revealed plans to bring the 545 HP Nürburgring-chomper to the UK for those with deep wallets and a taste for speed.
Jaguar's F-Type is arguably enough sports car for most, but that hasn't stopped the British big cat company from crafting a one-off, single seater racer variant, Jaguar Project 7, to take to the track at Goodwood this year. Described as a "project study" led by Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum, Project 7 re-clads the F-Type in a new aluminum body with a bespoke carbon-fiber aero-kit, borrowing stylistic hints from the classic D-type, but throwing a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine tuned for 550 PS and 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
Jaguar's striking F-Type may already be wowing drivers as a convertible months out from launch, but it's taken some premature patent digging to see exactly what the eventual coupe version might look like. The car company has previously conceded that a hard-top F-Type will eventually reach forecourts, but has played it coy on how close to the original C-X16 concept it might be. Fortunately for us, while Jaguar's designers may be tight-lipped, its lawyers are a little more open.
It's been a while since we talked about Jaguar's short film called Desire. The first time Jaguar talked about its short film, which is basically an extended commercial for its new F-Type, was back in November of 2012. At the time, all we knew was that the movie will prominently feature the new F-Type and actor Damian Lewis.
Over the years, I've seen a number of Jaguar sports cars and luxury vehicles, and none of them really jumped out as something I would like to own. I thought the new F-type was a good-looking vehicle, it just didn't have anything about it that made me want one. Not too long ago, a new Jaguar sports car turned up called the XKR-S GT, and I want one incredibly bad.
Jaguar has been working hard to bring a more sporting image to the brand over the last several months. The automaker has unveiled some incredibly attractive cars over the last year including the 550 hp XFR-S and the new F-Type convertible. Jag is set to unveil another high-performance car model at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.
Jaguar has pulled the wraps off of its XFR-S sports sedan, the big cat company's 186mph take on tightening up the luxobarge until your passengers squeak like field-mice. Teased last week as the fastest and most powerful four-door from Jaguar ever, the XFR-S made its debut at the LA Auto Show 2012, using a 5-liter supercharged V8 engine with 550PS good for a 0-60mph dash in 4.4s. However, Jaguar also says the XFR-S shouldn't make too great an impact in your eco-credentials, with the new car putting out the same emissions and fuel consumption figures as its XRF sibling.
Jaguar has given up some details on a short film starring Damien Lewis of Homeland fame. The short film is called Desire and is being created by Jaguar in association with Ridley Scott Associates. The short film is set to be released in early 2013.
