Alienware M14x, M17x and M18x get Ivy Bridge

Alienware has thrown Intel's new 3rd-gen Core i5 and i7 processors at its updated M14x, M17x and M18x notebooks, promising a roughly 20-percent boost in power from the new Ivy Bridge architecture. It's the second refresh for the trio of gaming laptops in under a month, with Intel slotting in new mSATA caching drives and boosted graphics in mid-March. HP adds Intel’s Ivy Bridge to six desktops

The last two days have seen a positive rain of new systems using Intel's third generation of Core processors, including an update to HP's well-received Omni 27. They just announced another five models getting the Ivy Bridge update: the 21-inch Omni 220qd and Touchsmart 520xt all-in-ones, the Pavilion HPE h8t and h8xt desktops and the top-of-the-line HPE H9t Phoenix. The Phoenix will be hitting online and brick-and-mortar retailers on April 29th, but the rest of the models including the new Omni 27qd will have to wait until June 24th for retail. They'll be offered on HP's website the same day as the Phoenix.

If you're a fan of the all-in-one design and aren't up for Lenovo's unconventional A720, then there's good news: HP's mid-range, big-screen Omni 27 will soon get an Ivy Bridge option. The third-generation Intel Core processors will be offered with new Omni 27 units soon. Though HP's website is still showing the older processors, Intel's Ivy Bridge showcase names the model. The update should go live on HP's site in a week or two.
