We've already had our hands on the lovely silver beast that is the Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook, and now it's come time to refresh the lineup with a 3rd Generation Intel Core i7 processor and a 256GB Solid State Drive to boot. This Acer refresh includes a lovely new champagne color and has a price structure starting at just $648 USD. Acer Aspire S5 ultra-thin ultrabook priced and detailed

The thinnest ultrabook in Acer's arsenal has been announced as being up for sale this month: the Acer Aspire S5, complete with the fabulously odd motorized MagicFlip I/O Port we got our hands on earlier this year at CES 2012. This notebook measures in at 0.44 inches thin at its thinnest point, with just a 0.59 inch thickness at the other end of the spectrum. Dell Vostro notebooks join desktop line with Ivy Bridge

This week Dell's most modestly priced lineup of notebooks has been boosted to another level with 3rd Generation Intel Core processors. It's time for Ivy Bridge all over the Dell universe as back at the start of May Dell had the Vostro 470 Desktop as well as the XPS 8500 desktop boosted up to this newest generation of Intel solutions as well. The Vostro notebook lineup including the 13-inch 3360, 14-inch 3460, and 15-inch 3560 are all being pushed to options of either second or third generation Intel Core options this week. Apple unveils next-gen MacBook Pro: Retina display from $2,199

In addition to the refreshed MacBook Airs, Apple has also unveiled the next-generation of the MacBook Pro. It’s a 15.4-inch model with a Retina display, with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 and a pixel density of 220PPI. In addition, it’s thinner and lighter than the current MacBook Pros, coming in a 0.71-inches thick and weighing 4.46 pounds. Apple say it’s 25% thinner than the current MacBook Pros, and almost as thin as the MacBook Air.

MacBook Air 2012 refresh comes with Ivy Bridge and USB 3.0

This week at WWDC 2012 we’ve been informed by no less than Phil Schiller that the entire MacBook lineup would be updated, including the MacBook Air. The Air would grab 3rd-gen Intel Core Ivy Bridge processors in i5 configurations up to 1.8GHz dual-core, 8GB of ram, and 512GB of flash storage. In addition, these new notebooks will have USB 3.0 as well as a Thunderbolt port, Facetime camera with 720p resolution, and both 11-inch and 13-inch configurations, and all of it starting at $999.

Ready for more Ivy Bridge updates? Acer is the company jumping on the bandwagon this time, announcing two new Aspire notebooks that will feature Intel’s third-generation of Core processors. Acer will offer two Aspire V5 models, a 14-inch and a 15.3-inch, with the former weighing 4.6lbs and coming in at 0.79-inches thick, while the latter will weigh 5lbs and be around 0.83 inches thick. Dell updates Inspiron 15R and 17R

In addition to the Inspiron 14z, Dell has unveiled two other Inspiron models, the 15R and 17R. The R is designed to bring a bit of a performance boost over the standard offerings, although the base models of both laptops still feature Sandy Bridge processors (Ivy Bridge upgrades are available). They’re certainly heavy, with the lightest laptop coming in at 6.05 lbs, but the prices are low too, with the 15R starting from $549.99 and the 17R starting at $599.99. Read The Full Story

Dell has today announced a new Ultrabook in its lineup, the Inspiron 14z. Dell is hoping that the budget offerings will entice students, and the design has been tweaked to add some more supple curves. If you’re hoping to find Ivy Bridge lurking beneath the chassis, you’ll be in for a disappointment: the Ultrabook comes equipped with a ULV Sandy Bridge Core i3 processor, although Core i5 and Core i7 Ivy Bridge upgrades are available. Alleged spec sheet for 13″ MacBook Pro 2012 leaks

The 15-inch MacBook Pro has been the main model tipped to include a Retina display, with not much being said of the 13.3- or 17-inch models. A leaked spec sheet indicates that that 13-inch may not see a Retina display update, instead settling for a mobile Ivy Bridge update as well as two USB 3.0 ports.
