LG Display and iriver have announced a partnership that will see the two companies collaborate as a new ODM/OEM ebook manufacturer. The new venture, L&I Electronic Technology (Dongguan) Ltd., will be based at iriver's Chinese plant and see LG Display provide the e-ink panels and iriver develop product designs. LG Display will have a small majority stake in the collaboration, providing 51-percent of the total $5m financing.

iriver‘s Story ebook reader has been floating around Korea since October last year, but it’s the confirmation that it’s coming to the US in 2010 that has really sparked interest. We caught up with iriver at CES 2010 to check the Story out; more live photos plus a video demo after the cut.

iriver's Story has been simmering away in Korea for a few months now, but so far just how good an ebook reader it is has been a mystery. iriver's Story ebook reader has gone up for preorder, priced at the equivalent of around $281. Set to begin shipping on October 6th, the Story has a 6-inch E-Ink display, QWERTY keyboard and an SD card slot; iriver supply a 2GB card with the device, along with a case and two free ebook downloads.

iriver NV mini bike edition entertains cyclists while getting them lost
iriver's latest product is out, and unlike their more traditional range of PMPs they've branched off into "eco-friendly bike navigation". The iriver NV mini bike edition is a sliced-down version of their NV classic, keeping the touchscreen, GPS and media playback but dropping the integrated DMB TV tuner.

The few live images of iriver's new ebook reader, the sensibly-named Story, whet our appetite; now German site Heise have had the chance to go hands-on with the Kindle-esque device. Unfortunately they've also found that, right now, a WiFi-equipped model is merely "planned", while a 3G version only "conceivable" if iriver can find a suitable mobile module.
