Apple iPod media events, hardware changes nowhere to be found this year

For the first year ever, Apple held no special media events for any of its iPod line of products. Since its induction in 2001, the iPod has received some form of public promotional treatment every year. It also underwent some hardware changes--sometimes major, sometimes minor--every year, but not in 2013. This could signal an eventual phasing out of the iPod as a standalone music player.

Apple Campus approved in unanimously in Cupertino

It's official: the "spaceship campus" is ready to roll as the Cupertino City Council lends their unanimous approval of the Apple project at their October meeting. This month has already shown off a couple of views of the upcoming beast of an architectural project - now Apple can celebrate the initiation of the building itself. One move remains, of course, that being the second public reading of the formal agreement between Apple and the City of Cupertino, this scheduled for November 19th, with the full set of Apple's permits ready to hit the books the day after.

It would appear that a reboot of each of the iPod devices graced with color have been given a shade change this week thanks to the iPhone 5s. The iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle have been given "Space Gray" to match the iPhone 5s' newest tone. This suggests that while past years have seen a music-centric event reboot the likes of the iPod touch and/or the iPod nano or shuffle, we may see just the iPad and iPad mini given a new generation of hardware.

2K Drive iOS racing game coming from creators of Project Gotham

It's time for the folks that brought you the powerhouse real-car racing game Project Gotham to make 2K Drive to the mobile universe. This title was announced this week by the team at 2K Games, responsible for the sports lineup of titles acting as subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, responsible also for top-tier first-person action games as Borderlands 2 and BioShock Infinite, not to mention The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. It's the developers behind Lucid Games that'll be teaming up with 2K to create 2K Drive for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch by the end of 2013.

Apple fused glass patent application aims at iPhones, iPads, TVs, displays

This week a patent application has been discovered to have been filed by Apple one week ago, this patent application seeking rights to a method for fusing glass. This glass fusion process is described by Apple to be working with several different kinds of products, this ranging from iPhones to iPad, iPods to televisions, and displays in general. While it's unlikely that this process would affect launches in the coming months, it's certainly feasible that Apple would have fused glass bits within the next year.

This week Apple has made it clear that they're continuing to bust up the record books with a massive 25 billion songs sold. This record takes on the digital sales record with the iTunes Store having reached a 15,000 song downloads per minute mark on average - crazy stuff! The 25 billionth song sold goes to none other than Chase Buch with the song “Monkey Drums” (Goksel Vancin Remix), and rewards are in store!
