Pebble update brings full iOS 7 notifications; SDK 2.0 ready to roll

The smartwatch known as Pebble is seeing a software update today that brings on full iOS 7 integration - across iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - for full notifications support, just as on Android. This update, which will be pushed out OTA to all users, adds in support for notifications that don’t just include calls, emails, and texts as Pebble launched with, but also with calendar, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, and more - in fact, anything that shows up in Notification Center will be pushed to the smartwatch. Meanwhile, there are collaborations with some big names like GoPro and Foursquare to integrate with Pebble through the new SDK 2.0.

Aereo online DVR TV hits Android

The extent to which Aereo brings the live television and DVR universe to the public this week has extended to reach Android. Android devices are now part of the family of machines able to partake in the Aereo subscription model, allowing users to work with internet, using TV signals broadcast over the air and seen by users in their home or around town. The Android app that allows this all to happen will be available from the Google Play app store starting on the 22nd of October - at that time a public beta will be released for Android phones and tablets running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or higher.

Yahoo appears to finally have gotten with the program with the Flickr app for iOS, allowing this newest update to carry the all-important automatic upload for iOS devices. The iPhone and the iPad can now set Flickr to automatically pull photos from their Camera Roll, uploading on mobile networks or Wi-fi depending on the users preference.

If you're walking around New York City this afternoon, you may be handed a flyer by the NYC Police Department with a "Public Awareness Notice" for so-called "Apple users". This note informs users of iPhone and iPad devices that upgrading to iOS 7 will add security features that will keep these devices from being reprogrammed without an Apple ID and Password. These notes go on to suggest that "additional information on iOS 7 features" can be found at Apple's homepage.

As with all upgrades to a new operating system on the device you use most during the day, with iOS 7 there's a set of features not all iPhone users are going to like. Lucky you, there's a way to switch quite a few (if not nearly all) of the odds and ends back off, as it were, back to the way they were in iOS 6 before iOS 7 turned the iPhone on its head - see our iOS 7 review if you've not already. While users can still (for now) go through the steps to actually resetting their smartphone back to factory settings to get iOS 6, they'll still eventually (probably) be coerced into moving to iOS 7 anyway - for them, toggles are in place.

iOS 7 adoption at 30% as tracked by Mixpanel

Less than 24 hours ago, Apple released iOS 7 to the public, resulting in massive amounts of downloads and what analytics group Mixpanel suggests is a staggering adoption rate. The team at Mixpanel have ushered in their tracking chart - as they often to - of the newest Apple mobile operating system as it's hit the public. Over the past several days - since September 18th, Mixpanel's "1,763,443,640 records" show iOS 7 adoption moving from 10.2% up to 33.13% - that's a sampling of the whole world, suggesting a third of users out there in the wild have updated their internet-accessing iPads and iPhones and iPod touches already.

Apple has released iOS 7 as an over-the-air update for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The new release, described by Apple as its biggest change to iOS since the original iPhone launch, brings an updated interface, iTunes Radio streaming, and updated versions of the core apps like Safari, Mail, and the Siri virtual personal assistant.
