It might be time to kiss the iPod goodbye

It might be time to kiss the iPod goodbye

Apple’s latest event is happening next week, and we’re all fairly certain what we’re getting. New iPads are likely on the horizon, and we’re expecting something in the way of Mac and iMac to come as well. Though we’re not expecting apple to unleash that massive iPad Pro we’ve been hearing about just yet, there’s good reason to think another of their products is falling by the wayside yet again. If we’re being totally honest, there might be good reason for it to slip quietly away, too.

iWatch details leak: seems a lot like iPod nano

The next big release from Apple appears to be stacking up as a wearable device, coming up more than just a couple of times with a code-name iWatch. This device has been teased again today with a release inside China with inside sources suggesting Apple has been creating prototypes of the device and is currently testing more than one model. This miniature device is also set to look rather similar to that of the 6th generation iPod nano with a very similar battery size, lending steam to the idea that the change-back to a larger size for the line in favor of the iPod Shuffle was done for more than one easy-to-see reason.

Apple iPod media events, hardware changes nowhere to be found this year

Apple iPod media events, hardware changes nowhere to be found this year

For the first year ever, Apple held no special media events for any of its iPod line of products. Since its induction in 2001, the iPod has received some form of public promotional treatment every year. It also underwent some hardware changes--sometimes major, sometimes minor--every year, but not in 2013. This could signal an eventual phasing out of the iPod as a standalone music player.

Apple RED contributions applauded by Bono as “leading the crew”

When you've got a company that sells products as successfully as Apple, there's a good chance a group like RED comes knocking at your door at some point or another. For Apple, that time came quite a few years ago - and here in 2013, RED spokesperson Bono has given Apple a round of applause on raising "over $65 million" in the group's efforts to fight AIDS. Bono thanked the company at the 2013 edition of the Clinton Global Initiative this week.

iPod touch, nano, shuffle “Space Gray” means no Autumn reboot

It would appear that a reboot of each of the iPod devices graced with color have been given a shade change this week thanks to the iPhone 5s. The iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle have been given "Space Gray" to match the iPhone 5s' newest tone. This suggests that while past years have seen a music-centric event reboot the likes of the iPod touch and/or the iPod nano or shuffle, we may see just the iPad and iPad mini given a new generation of hardware.

iPhone 6 concept renderings beg for borderless displays

The photos of the iPhone 6 you're about to see do not tread lightly with those of you who aren't all about keeping their phone safely packed away from the concrete ground you tread on. It should also be made clear that the images you're seeing are mixtures of reality and concept rendering, using a real finger to make you see the rest of the device as real - dust and reflections as well. Once you understand that, hear this: the iPhone 6 you see in less than a year may very well look exceedingly similar to these artist's renditions.
