iLuv knows you have trouble getting up in the morning, and they want to help. The new iLuv iMM178 Vibe Plus is an alarm clock with a difference, and that difference is a “shake & awake” attachment on the end of a cord. Hide it under your pillow and, when the alarm goes off – which, since the iMM178 Vibe Plus is also an iPhone/iPod speaker dock, could mean your favorite playlist – it’ll shake you until you get up.
Logic3’s i-Station Rotate got the swivelling iPod/iPhone system down pat, but it did so in a pretty slab-sided way. Showing them the error of their ways is JVC, whose new SX-SR3 can hold an Apple PMP in either landscape or portrait orientation while flanking it with glossy black, curved speaker tubes.
Speakal is famous (or is it infamous) for making some of the strangest iPod docks around. The things have been offered up in pig shapes and as weird flowerpot things. Speakal has unveiled its newest iPod dock that is shaped like something more mundane — a soccer ball.
Looking for a guaranteed way to confuse press and customers alike, and dilute your new brand? Creative have a good example: they’ve called their latest iPod speaker dock the ZiiSound, which you’d expect to thus include some of the clever ZiiLABS “StemCell Computing” magic they’ve been discussing this week. Instead it’s a bog-standard speaker dock, with nary a whiff of a Zii processor.
We’ve a soft-spot for Scottish radio and iPod dock manufacturer Revo; their tech at least attempts to look interesting, whether it’s through retro styling (but up to date functionality) or something more modern but no less distinctive. The company’s latest model is the Revo HERITAGE, a “contemporary reinterpretation of classic European table radio designs from the 50’s and 60’s” that packages DAB, DAB+, FM and WiFi internet radio, DLNA UPnP streaming and an iPod/iPhone dock.
If you want to see some really expensive audio gear, all you need to do is peruse the Bowers & Wilkins website to run across gear costing more than some people pay for a car. The company also makes a line of much more reasonably priced iPod speakers including the Zeppelin dock.
This week saw new iPods unveiled from Apple and accordingly we are getting a slew of new iPod accessories from cases to new iPod docks. Sharp has announced two new iPod docks that are designed for music listening on the go without needing headphones.

I have seen just about everything get an integrated speaker dock. Over the years, I have seen toilets with iPod docks, clocks, cars, and even bikes. It's no surprise to see a home theater speaker bar that has an integrated iPod dock.
