‘iPHONE SDK’ Stories

Apple have quietly confirmed that their iPad tablet is based on the same type of PowerVR SGX graphics hardware as the iPhone 3GS and current-gen iPod touch. Developers digging through the latest iPad SDK beta 3 documentation have found a paragraph comparing the iPad’s graphics capabilities to other SGX-based hardware, including OpenGL ES support.

Okay, so Apple’s iPod Nano doesn’t exactly have the best video recording of all gadgets, but HD video is gradually shaping up to be a crucial feature to be included in next-generation devices.  Some hints have surfaced that HD video may just be implemented on the next iPhone.

With iPad buzz out and about, those worried that Apple might be slacking on building its other product (yes, the iPhone) may now breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now.  The latest iPhone operating system 3.2 SDK reveals that the next iPhone is currently in the works, specifically, the codename of the new iPhone, the “N89”.

Apple WWDC09 sold out

wwdc09 sold outApple’s Worldwide Developers Conference for 2009, due to kick off on June 8th, has sold out.  The event, officially announced last month, is an opportunity for iPhone and Mac OS X developers to code alongside Apple’s own IT team, as well as attend numerous sessions in which Apple engineers explain the intricacies of their platform.

The countdown is on and it’s just a handful of hours until Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0 preview event, which we’ll be liveblogging at http://live.slashgear.com  We know Apple will be demonstrating some of the upcoming features we can expect from iPhone OS 3.0 – hopefully including MMS and copy-&-paste support – but there’s also talk of a “one last thing” that could blow the recent Mac and iPod shuffle updates out of the water: a Mac Tablet.

Apple just sent out invitations for a special event taking place on March 17 at 10AM to learn more about the new SDK and get a sneak peek at the iPhone OS 3.0 software.  This does not look very good for Palm, as I’ve suspected all along that Apple will manage to find a way to rain on the Pre launch parade!
