iPhone 5S in Graphite Gray compared to iPhone 5 side-by-side

Just days before the official Apple event sure to bring on a collection of colorful iPhone products to the public in Cupertino California, a video has been ushered in with an up-close look at what it'll mean to switch from an iPhone 5 up to an iPhone 5S. The product you're seeing here comes from the folks at USwitch where they've taken the time to assemble a collection of "official" replacement parts from repair shops sitting well upstream in various parts of what we must assume to be China. The result is a Frankenstein's Monster of efforts, putting together a white iPhone 5S front, a Graphite iPhone 5S back, and a distinct lack of innards.

iPhone 5S one of three iPhones set for store shelves soon

This next week is sure to bring on its fair share of products internationally due to IFA 2013 taking place, but Apple is being tipped to keep things solid on its home turf with word of not one, not two, but three products set for store shelves. Word from unnamed sources speaking with the Telegraph suggest that stores have been informed that they'll want to increase shelf space and display space to show off more than the usual two iPhone products at once. While today many stores show off the iPhone 4S next to the larger-display-toting iPhone 5, this next release will likely show three devices with the same size screen.

iPhone 5C image leak tips iPod touch like plastic packaging

Everything seems to be lining up for a September 10th announcement from Apple. And to that point, the evidence seems to be mounting for the iPhone 5C, with the "C" looking like it will stand for color. We have seen a few iPhone 5C related image leaks in the past and as of today it looks like another has arrived. This latest brings a slightly interesting twist though -- some new packaging.

iPhone trade-in program launching at Apple retail today [UPDATE: official statement]

It's been confirmed this morning that Apple retail stores will be launching their first iPhone trade-in program today. This program will allow iPhone owners to bring in gently used iPhones to Apple retail locations to receive credit at the Apple store that'll be good for use in purchase of a new iPhone model. This trade-in program is said to be good only with a new cellular contract in-hand - that is, you can't just head in to an Apple store and expect to leave with an Apple gift card.

iPhone 5S Gunmetal parts appear in Japanese repair shop

iPhone 5S Gunmetal parts appear in Japanese repair shop

Though it's not quite as likely that we'd find official Apple-made hardware leaked to a Japan-based parts replacement store as it would one in China, today's appearance of a Gunmetal-colored iPhone 5S SIM-tray is intriguing all the same. What we're seeing here is a series of comparison shots of this Gunmetal color (not black, but darker than the white iPhone 5) near the iPhone 5's two color iterations. This would be the fourth color iPhone 5S tray to have appeared in the past month.

Gold iPhone 5S hardware dummy appears aside standard black and white

This week we've heard more than one unofficial confirmation that the iPhone 5S would be launched with three color models - and today we're seeing the whole lot. According to sources - the anonymous kind - speaking on the iPhone 5S launch coming up soon (as soon as September 10th, as it were), the device is set to be sent out in white, black, and gold. This third color option is not likely to be gold the same way a golden pirate coin is gold, instead appearing much closer to a Champagne in tone.

New iPhones ship in September: “high-end and low-end”

In the midst of the unofficial confirmations of both the iPhone and the iPad appearing soon in reboots at a single Apple event comes an assembly line tip that two iterations of the iPhone will ship in September. This suggestion comes from the Wall Street Journal seeing word from people familiar with the matter speaking on Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., this group supposedly acting as assembler of two iPhone models. This report suggests that a high-end version of the iPhone will be joined by a low-end version of the iPhone in September.

Gold iPhone 5S looks a September 10 lock-in

Gold iPhone 5S looks a September 10 lock-in

Apple's iPhone 5S will almost certainly come in a gold or champagne finish, multiple sources have confirmed with insiders familiar with the next-gen iOS 7 flagship smartphone, describing the finish as "elegant" rather than gaudy. After reports over the weekend of a new color option for the iPhone 5S alongside the existing black and silver, and chatter of leaked parts earlier this month, now AllThingsD claims its moles have told it to "think champagne, not ingot" about the third hue, which will be paired with a white fascia. However, the gold iPhone 5S isn't solely about a new color, with long-standing talk of fingerprint biometrics expected to culminate in a new push for smartphone security in iOS 7 and beyond.
