YouTube for iOS updated for iPhone 5, iPad, and AirPlay

You can now stream YouTube video via Apple's own AirPlay technology thanks to the newest update to the YouTube app for iOS, that being version 1.1.0.4136, aka the iPad and iPhone 5 update. This upgrade to the newest version has a little bit of user interface magic to it with a simple tap on the YouTube logo allowing you access to your Guide of channels while the aesthetics now seem eerily similar to what we're working with in the new Gmail for iOS - coincidence? IDC: Android wins through 2016 with iOS a clear second

It would appear that the same forecast that we've been seeing for some time now with a variety of analysis groups remains true here with IDC, they showing 2012 through 2016 to be sustaining Android on top and iOS in second place across the planet. IDC's 2012 report also shows that not only has the smartphone segment of the mobile phone market at large been continuing to leap forward and up, but the entire mobile market has - surprise - taken a bit of a downturn. In 2012 the worldwide phone market has been forecast to grow just 1.4% year-over-year, this being what IDC calls the lowest annual growth rate in three years. Read The Full Story

China Unicom racks up 100k iPhone 5 reservations on day one

iPhone 5 hits South Korea Dec 5th at start of 50 country expansion

Apple has announced the next gush of iPhone 5 availability, with the iOS smartphone due to hit South Korea on Friday, December 5, followed by a further 50 countries before the end of the year. From the following Friday, December 14, the iPhone 5 will go on sale in Israel, China, Russia, and 31 other locations, with the remainder on December 21.

Starting today, Apple is now selling unlocked iPhone 5 handsets for those who want to eschew a contract and drop a few more Benjamins in the process.
