FreedomPop $99 WiMAX iPhone case up for pre-order

Towards the end of March it was revealed that FreedomPop was planning to launch a WiMAX iPhone case that would provide 1GB of data for free. The case would come with a deposit of $99 that would be refunded upon returning the case, with the company hoping to take advantage of a freemium model by converting customers to a paid model further down the road. FreedomPop is now available for pre-order, although the product has been tweaked slightly.

T-Mobile boosts HSPA+ and grabs LTE kit; iPhone support this year

T-Mobile USA has announced the next phase of its 4G drive, with broader roll-out of HSPA+ 42Mbps service and new partners for its 2013 LTE network. The carrier has inked deals with Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks - both mainstays in the 4G industry - to LTE-capable kit at 37,000 cell sites across T-Mobile's 4G network, boosting signal quality and enhancing performance beginning in 2012. Meanwhile, T-Mobile has also seen more than 1m users sign up to the VoIP service, with each user making over ten calls on average.

Select Walmart stores are offering a major discount on the iPhone 4S, perhaps just in time for a nice Mother's Day present. Earlier this morning, Cult of Mac reported that a Walmart location in Edmond, Oklahoma had listed the 16GB iPhone 4S for only $114. The Verge then found that another Walmart location in Austin, Texas was also offering the same deal.

Apple Q2 earnings top entire history

This week Apple has reported that they've topped every quarter in their entire history with a record amount of revenue of $46.33 billion, and quarterly net profit of $13.06 billion. This quarter includes everything from the iPad 2 to the iPhone 4S and shows that Apple's mobile sectors are more than successful with their computer sales staying strong - with 128 percent unit growth for smartphones from a year ago in smartphones and tablets and a 26 percent upward trend since last year in desktop computing.

iPhone dominates AT&T Q1 2012

AT&T sold 5.5m smartphones at the start of the year and saw data revenues surge almost a fifth year-on-year, the carrier revealed in its Q1 2012 financial results today, with revenues and income both up. The company saw $31.8 billion in consolidated revenues, up $575 million from last year, and with wireless revenues up 5.4-percent year-on-year to $16.1bn; wireless data revenues contributed $6.1bn of that, climbing a full billion from Q1 2011. Meanwhile 4.3m iPhones were activated in the quarter.
