Passbook app revealed at WWDC 2012

The iPhone will soon be getting a much easier way to keep track of all of your mobile-based passes, be then movie passes, airplane tickets, or Apple store receipts, with an app called Passbook. This application will work with brands such as Target, Major League Baseball, United Airlines, Amtrak, Starbucks, and Fandango for movie tickets right out of the box. Apple made the application seem very possibly game-changing (or not?) with the following: "Is Apple answering a question no one asked with this one? Possibly. Or this will change you life."

Virgin Mobile’s iPhone 4S sums add up

Virgin Mobile’s iPhone 4S sums add up

Virgin Mobile caused a shudder amid the tech world yesterday, confirming it would be offering the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with no contract and hitherto unseen low calling plans, but do the numbers hold up to scrutiny? At $549 for an 8GB iPhone 4 or $649 for a 16GB iPhone 4S, it's a long way from the heavily-subsidized offers AT&T, Verizon and others have on offer. Swallowing the cost of a new smartphone upfront can bypass a whole lot of monthly pain, however. Read on for the sums that will salve your wallet.

iPhone heads to Virgin Mobile off-contract

This move is reportedly helping Virgin Mobile's parent company satisfy their $15.5 billion dollar contract with Apple over four years.

Pre-Paid Leap iPhone not exactly cheap

Today we're finding that the idea of a pre-paid, no-contract iPhone is something that is driving the news media, but not necessarily customers, right up the wall. What we're finding here on Cricket is that there's certainly nothing to get excited about, especially given the similarities between this carrier's pricing and the prices users pay through every other outlet.

Apple CEO Tim Cook faces D10, talks Siri flaws

Tim Cook took the stage at the D10 conference this evening, and as you might expect when he's facing questions from no-nonsense business types, he was asked to defend the iPhone 4S's personal voice assistant Siri, which has gone from a cool novelty to one of Apple's biggest marketing campaigns of the decade, even though some suggest Siri doesn't have the chops to back it up.
