AT&T Employees Blocked From Vacationing in June

AT&T Employees Blocked From Vacationing in June

Traditionally, leading up to the Summer season means that the tech industry cools down. Not as many announcements to go 'round all year, we imagine. But that's why we have to be thankful for Apple, because at least they keep us on our toes with all sorts of things. For example, we get a glimpse into the lives of AT&T employees. Or, better yet, the lives they aren't allowed to have.

Apple iPhone HD Back Cover Supposedly Leaked

Apple iPhone HD Back Cover Supposedly Leaked

Let's just say that we're looking at these images with one eyebrow raised. Not only are we entirely way too skeptical of these images for our own good, they just don't look like the iPhone HD we'd expect from Apple. Yes, the Cupertino-based company has a love affair with aluminum, but that throws up questions in of itself, considering if you actually want to make a phone call, aluminum is going to make that next to impossible (and it's not like AT&T needs any more reasons to question their network).

iPhone 4th-Gen LCD/digitizer leaks on video?

iPhone 4th-Gen LCD/digitizer leaks on video?

There's something about supposedly-leaked iPhone HD components that make us instantly suspicious, so forgive us if we seem unnaturally sceptical of this purported fourth-generation iPhone display.  Spotted on a video from SmartPhoneMedia, who claim to have received the component from a "very reliable source", the display is slightly longer than the current iPhone 3GS panel but also narrower.

Apple LTE iPhone job ad prompts predictable furore

Apple LTE iPhone job ad prompts predictable furore

Furore galore as eagle-eyed Apple job trackers spot an iPhone engineering post calling for someone with LTE experience, and make the obvious connection that the company is looking to develop an iPhone HD with LTE connectivity.  According to the listing, the new Cellular Technology Software Manager would be "responsible for the design, implementation and integration of layer 1-3 protocols for the iPhone", which would include managing "R&D of new protocol and standards" such as speedy cellular technologies.

Next generation iPhone 4G front panel leaked

iPhone repair site iResQ has allegedly received a front panel component of the next generation iPhone 4G, which is expected for a release this summer.  The several photos they’ve snapped for us to see indicate a few ways that new iPhone HD from Apple may just differ from its predecessors.  More photos can be found after the break.

4th-Gen iPhone coming April? OLED, dual-core CPU & removable battery tipped

What with all the talk about Apple's potential iSlate tablet recently, we've almost neglected speculation about the fourth-generation iPhone HD.  Rumors have reignited over in South Korea, however, as newspaper The Korea Times claims to have heard from carrier KT Telecom - Apple's current carrier partner in the country - that the next-gen iPhone could arrive as early as April 2010 complete with an OLED display and video-chat functionality, as well as faster performance and more power flexibilty.

When will Verizon Wireless get the iPhone?

When will Verizon Wireless get the iPhone?

The surest way for someone to generate attention is by making an Apple prediction. Apple has a cult following, and its product development and launch strategy is famously secretive, so the fact that your source is the lunch counter guy across the block from the Hon Hai factory in Taiwan won’t be discovered (or may even be considered authoritative!). Financial analysts are often the worst offenders – we have been promised an Apple tablet more times than I can count, assured that an iPhone nano was on the way, and where’s that iPod touch with a camera?

However, market analysts like me (and fellow SlashGear columnist Michael Gartenberg) rarely talk about specific products before they’re launched. Often, that’s because I can’t: vendors frequently tell me what they are working on ahead of time under non-disclosure agreements. Another reason that I don’t make specific predictions is that I simply hate being wrong: my job depends on my being both trustworthy and generally accurate, and I’m not about to jeopardize that for a bit of extra attention in the press.

Verizon testing 4G LTE iPhone for 2010 release?

Verizon testing 4G LTE iPhone for 2010 release?

Salt cellars at the ready, folks.  Despite an aggressive anti-iPhone campaign kicked off over the weekend and an incoming Android device that's said to have had the biggest Google involvement in hardware to-date, Verizon is tipped to have been testing a 4G LTE iPhone on their fledgling next-gen network.  According to fonefrenzy's unnamed sources, Verizon and Apple have been testing the CDMA iPhone over the past few months, with carrier CEO Lowell McAdam double-dipping on his trips to Mountain View, California, by stopping by both Google and Apple's headquarters.

Foxconn engineer commits suicide after losing iPhone 4G prototype

A Foxconn employee in China has committed suicide, after a fourth-gen Apple iPhone prototype he was entrusted with went missing.  25 year-old Sun Danyong worked in the company's product communications department, and was responsible for shipping prototypes from Foxconn to Apple.  Having reported the missing handset, Sun's apartment was illegally searched by Foxconn employees and he was, according to unsubstantiated allegations, detained and physically abused.  On Thursday July 16th, just after 3am, he jumped from the window of his apartment.
