iPad mini confirmed to include 5-watt power adapter

After Apple announced the iPad mini last week, a lot of people wondered what kind of USB power adapter that the company would include with it. Some said it was still large enough of a device to warrant Apple's new 12-watt charger, but some said that it's small enough that the iPhone's 5-watt charger would do the trick. Confirmed by an early buyer of the iPad mini, the device ships with the smaller 5-watt charger. Read The Full Story

Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the iPad mini launch in New York City may not be as big as past launches for Apple. The company's flagship store on 5th Avenue (nicknamed "The Cube") hasn't seen any damage to the outside or the inside, so Apple is planning on launching the iPad mini on schedule, which is at 8 AM ET tomorrow morning. SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: October 31, 2012

Welcome to the special Halloween edition of the Evening Wrap-Up! The Halloween edition is pretty much the same as regular Wrap-Ups, the only difference is that I'm dressed as Ginger Spice as I type this. Let's spice up our lives with a recap, shall we? Microsoft is being sued over its Windows 8 live tiles, and Apple has removed delivery dates from iPad Mini LTE pre-orders, leading some to suspect that the company has been forced to delay them. T-Mobile and AT&T have opened up their networks in areas hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, letting customers of both carriers use either network - a respectable move by the two carriers in this time of need. However, it seems that Apple is redacting these dates and substituting in "mid-November" instead. Read The Full Story

iPad mini Review: Apple aims for the everyman

It’s an iPad, but smaller. Boiling down the iPad mini to its core premise may not tell you everything you need to know about the 7.9-inch tablet, but it does set the scene: Apple’s legendary build quality, iOS and the hundreds of thousands of tablet apps in the App Store, and a guarantee that it’s going to polarize consumers. Steve Jobs memorably dismissed smaller tablets, and yet Apple couldn’t have been more enthusiastic about its mini model at the launch event last week. Read on to find out whether, for a small slate, the iPad mini is actually a big deal.

, Oct 29th 2012 Discuss [66]

It would appear that amongst the software and hardware releases Google has detailed this week is their first giant iPad competitor in the Google Nexus 10. At first glance the differences might not be abundant to an everyday average user other than the obvious Android vs iOS and feel of each device. As it turns out though, these two tablets, for the first time, create a battle between the iPad and an Android-toting tablet made not just by a major manufacturer, but Google as well.

Amazon slams iPad mini in Kindle Fire HD attack ad

Amazon has directly called out Apple's new iPad mini in a homepage attack advert, criticizing the new 7.9-inch iOS tablet for falling short in specifications versus the Kindle Fire HD. The comparison, seen when you first visit Amazon's US site, contrasts the $199 Kindle Fire HD with its 216ppi, 7-inch display against the $329 iPad mini, which has a 163ppi display. That's not the only shortcoming, Amazon maintains. Read The Full Story
