One of the takeaways from our iPad mini review was quite how travel-friendly the smaller tablet proved to be in comparison to the full-sized version. The 9.7-inch iPad has grown progressively slimmer across its generations, but the 7.9-inch form factor has bag-friendly advantages in its narrower width and shorter length. The fact that it's so easily used one-handed makes it a more direct alternative to a Kindle or NOOK for ebook reading, too. While the WiFi-only model's design begged to be included in your bag or purse, the 4G version finally has the flexibility to match.

Samsung requests to have iPad mini added to lawsuit

Following Samsung's recent victory in having the iPhone 5 added to the present lawsuit between it and Apple, the Korean company has now requested that the recently-launched iPad mini also be added. The Apple device allegedly infringes on two wireless technology patents and several other feature patents that are used for both varieties of the mini iPad. In addition, Samsung has also pursued whether it properly went after the iPod Touch, stating that it will do so if necessary.

Delivery times for some preorders of the iPad mini WiFi + Cellular have slipped back into early December, with Apple quietly updating its tracking system from the original "late November" estimate for international buyers. Some shoppers checking their order status today have found that Apple has pushed back the delivery to December 4, even if they placed orders for the 3G/4G-enabled tablet shortly after it went up for sale.
