iPad mini 2 skipping retina again: here’s why

iPad mini 2 skipping retina again: here’s why

If you're waiting for a so-called "Retina" display on an iPad mini in the near future, you'll be better off planning to wait it out for at least another season. While the iPad mini currently sits with the same display resolution as the iPad 2, the trend for best-of-the-best in all things display and specifications have suddenly proven to be topped out. While this isn't the only indicator for the iPad mini staying with the display it's got now, the trend has become rather apparent: the next waves of smartphones and tablets selling out of stores wont necessarily beat out the previous generation for high-end specs, they'll be aimed at the everyman.

It's been five years since Apple first launched the App Store, the company this week celebrating the origins of the iOS-tending software vending environment with a bit of a silent wave. You may have seen the "Apple Celebrates 5 Years of the App Store" that've been appearing in tubes to the doors of Apple-friendlies: it's there that you'll be getting the same information we'll be running down here. It begins with the launch of the store back on July 10th of 2008, not long after the iPhone was first launched (in June of 2007) and the first 10 million downloads were reached not long after.

iPad 5 schematics leak with iPad mini-size sides

The fifth generation full-sized iPad appears to be popping up this week for the first time in schematics - not the average leak vehicle, to be sure. Information included in this set of plans suggests that the upcoming iPad model will take on many of the characteristics of the iPad mini, especially those at the edges of the machine, slighter body and all. This machine would be ever-so-slightly less tall and wide than that current-generation iPad and would be about 3/4 the size in thickness.

As the software was, at first, only shown on the iPhone 5 during Apple's developers conference WWDC 2013, it became rather quickly an often, asked question: what would iOS 7 look like on devices Apple guaranteed would be attaching it to? iPad 5 panel leak tips iPad mini-style slim bezels

An image supposedly showing the front panel of the next full-sized iPad has emerged, lending weight to rumors that Apple will continue with the thinner bezels of the iPad mini. The front glass and button section shared by Apple.pro is obviously not confirmed as an official part, but would at least fit in with speculation that the fifth-gen iOS tablet's side bezels will be trimmed dramatically.

Retina iPad mini update coming quick says analyst, chip boost in 2014

It would appear that the analysts at NPD DisplaySearch have run the numbers and decided that the iPad mini with full retina-quality display is well on its way. They've made it clear in their most recent report that the iPad mini's first big update will be appearing in the third quarter of 2013, if all goes well, with another update soon after. The second update, says NPD, will include not only a higher-definition display than the first edition - it'll have a boosted mobile processor under the hood, as well.

Low-cost iPhone in Apple’s future as iPad mini succeeds

Low-cost iPhone in Apple’s future as iPad mini succeeds

As the next release from Apple approaches after the most recent change in Apple's approach with a smaller-sized iPad in the iPad mini, analysts have suggested that a lower-cost iPhone has become inevitable. What Mark Moskowitz and Gokul Hariharan of J.P. Morgan have suggested this week is Apple's approach toward a segment in the market hit by the iPad mini since its release last year. As the iPad mini took the middle-market between the $199 tablets and the $499 tablets popular last year at this time, so too will Apple move in on the mass market once more with a new lower-cost iPhone.
