This week Apple has made with the iPhone and iPad update with iOS 8.1. This system update will bring several new features to the iPhone and iPad world, including the return of Camera Roll and the first release of Apple Pay for mobile NFC payments with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. This system also works with the public beta of the new iCloud Photo Library app and system. This iCloud Photo Library system uses iCloud storage for space - of course, and that might cost you.

Apple slips up, leaks iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3

Apple slips up, leaks iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3

So, hey — there’s an Apple event tomorrow. We’ve been speculating, like everyone else, that a few new iPads were coming. Typically, that’s just chatter until Apple reveals what they’ve got for us, which usually comes via their announcement. No matter how convincing the leaks or rumors are (remember the iPhone 6?!), we temper it with pragmatism, and patiently wait for Apple to confirm things. They’ve done that a bit early this time, with the new iPad owner’s manual tipping Apple’s iHand for tomorrow’s event.

Apple event predictions: 3D Apple, iPad Air, Mini, Yosemite

Several new bits and pieces are being tipped towards release this week as Apple’s next big event takes place tomorrow, the 16th of October. We’ll be there with bells on - and information releases as fast as you can read them. There we’ll see all manner of new devices, likely an iPad Air update, a new iPad Mini, and more than likely an official releasing of OS X Yosemite for desktop and notebook machines of all kinds - including a tipped new MacBook Air with Retina display - though that's just a less-than-respectable rumor.

iPad Air keyboards revealed by Belkin, a tad early

While we’re expecting more than one update to the mobile Apple universe on Thursday of this week, Belkin appears to be preparing for the incoming wave. They’ve released information on two new iPad Air keyboards - "QODE Keyboards for iPad Air," they say - before the Apple event where it’s expected that an iPad Air 2 (or just second-generation iPad Air) will be revealed. We’ll just have to wait and see for Apple - but for now, these keyboards will work with the iPad Air model that's already on the market.

iPad Air 2 has A8X chip, possible 2GB RAM

The iPad Air 2 is likely going to make an appearance later this week at Apple’s event. In addition to some Mac news, it’s believed we’ll get an iPad update, likely across the lineup. New components for the iPad Air 2 have reportedly leaked, and show a new processor as well as that rumored RAM uptick. If you held out on the iPad Air last year because it just wasn’t powerful enough, the iPad Air 2 one might be one worth grabbing.

Apple holds $50m axe over surprise-spoiling suppliers

Apple holds $50m axe over surprise-spoiling suppliers

GT Advanced Technologies is currently firing on all cylinders in light of their bankruptcy filing earlier this month. One of the most interesting bits of data that’ve come out of the bankruptcy investigation is Apple’s non-disclosure agreement, and the $50 million dollar penalty the company imposes for product or information leaks. Lawyers representing GT are arguing that they need to reveal additional information about their close relationship with Apple "in the interests of creditors and shareholders."

iPad Event to be “live” with Apple

iPad Event to be “live” with Apple

On the 16th of October, 2014, Apple will hold a special event for the reveal of their next hardware release. That’ll almost certainly be the next iPad or iPads as well as a new desktop system of some sort. That could mean a new MacBook Pro, a new Mac desktop, or any number of other systems that are set to showcase the newest version of OS X - Yosemite. The question remains though - will the event have a livestream video, or will they opt just for a live feed of images and text?

Delay of 12.9-inch iPad due to Common Sense

Delay of 12.9-inch iPad due to Common Sense

Earlier this year we first heard of the idea that Apple would create an iPad with a 12.9-inch display. That’s absurd, I thought - why on earth would Apple create a tablet larger than their smallest notebook? What possible reason would Apple have for making an iPad with a display larger than the standard iPad/iPad Air size they’ve got today? Surely they can’t be serious?

iPad Air 2 detailed in leaked photos

iPad Air 2 detailed in leaked photos

This morning the iPad Air 2 seems to have leaked in full - visually, anyway. this version of the iPad Air looks to have a Touch ID fingerprint reader, a thinner chassis, and a complete absence of a mute switch. This would be the first iPad released without said switch, each previous iPad keeping the switch for the instant muting of audio or rotation lock. This device is shown in white with the lighter aluminum backing in Silver - not quite Space Gray yet.
