The talk is weighing up: Apple’s iPad mini, the smaller “tweener” slate to slot in-between iPhone and new iPad, looks increasingly like a case of “when” and not “if”. Another high-profile and trusted source has jumped on the iPad mini bandwagon, taking the count of “insider confirmation” to three, alongside numerous other leaks and even some sneaky engineering sample photos.
Apple has confirmed that the new iPad will go on sale in China on July 20, with the coast now legally clear for the tablet after the company secured rights to use the iPad name. Pricing for the new iPad has not been confirmed for the Chinese market, though the iPad 2 is on sale at 2,988 Chinese yuan ($469).

Google's own-brand entrance into the 7-inch tablet market with the Nexus 7 has refueled speculation about a so-called iPad mini, with Apple expected to face increasing pressure to compete at the tweener size. Samsung has secured a win against Apple in The Hague, with the Dutch court ruling that older iPhones and iPads contravene a 3G patent held by the Korean company. Although Samsung’s earlier attempts to have the products – which include the iPad 2 and iPhone 4, though not the latest iPhone 4S and new iPad – blocked from sale were rejected, the company says it will now use this ruling to obtain compensation for the infringement from Apple.
Spotify has brought its free mobile radio service to the iPhone and iPad, offering both ad-supported and premium subscribers unlimited streaming song access while on the move. A free download [Update: Spotify now says the app will be released in the "next few days"], the newly updated Spotify app allows listeners to construct personalized radio stations from the 16m-strong catalog, save individual tracks from them to their own playlists, and share radio stations with friends.
Mozilla has revealed a new iPad browser project, Junior, which the company promises will rebuild the concept of tablet internet surfing. Described as "an iPad browser that makes browsing more fun, more ergonomic and re-thinks browser user experience from the ground up", Junior is part of Mozilla's Product Design Strategy work, aiming to cut off rivals at the pass by outthinking them in advance.
