iPad 3 Apple A5X chipset reportedly leaked

The iPad 3‘s logic board bearing its new Apple A5X processor has leaked, if Chinese tipsters are to be believed, the latest component from the hotly-anticipated third generation tablet to break cover. Although previous speculation had centered on Apple using an A6 chip in the new iPad, the photo shared at forum WeiPhone suggests a more evolutionary rather than revolutionary upgrade is intended. Yesterday, another iPad 3 component leak indicated the new model would have an 8-megapixel camera and slightly different styling.

iPad 3 buyers don’t care about price

iPad owners tend to be wealthier and older than average, while half of prospective iPad 3 buyers don’t care how much the third-gen tablet will cost them, according to independent research by NPD Group and SlashGear. NPD found more than 40-percent of current iPad owners had a household income of $100,000 or more, compared to 26-percent of non-iPad owners. In a survey run by SlashGear, meanwhile, half of those expressing a strong intention on buying the next-gen iPad – expected to be unveiled in early March – said they planned to do so without consideration of either price or specifications.

Apple ARM laptop tipped by Piper Jaffray

This week it's been tipped by Piper Jaffray analyst Gus Richard that Apple is currently actively working on an ARM laptop. A research note from Richard spoke of the idea that because Apple is almost certainly working on a laptop which uses an internally-designed chip, Intel's stake in the company appears to be at risk. Apple faces $2bn Proview US lawsuit

Apple foe Proview is threatening to expand its legal battle over the iPad trademark to the US, revealing it is preparing to sue Apple for $2bn as the Chinese furore spreads to the Cupertino company’s home turf. Proview has denied Apple’s suggestions that the ongoing case is little more than extortion, with CEO Yang Rongshan arguing that ”we own [the iPad trademark] in China.
