iPad Air iFixit teardown reveals Qualcomm, Broadcom, Toshiba inside

This week the folks at iFixit have taken their spudgers to the iPad Air, pulling it apart to reveal all the little bits and pieces that together make the smallest of the larger-end of iPad units on the market today. This device is indeed just hitting the market today, appearing at Apple Stores and 3rd-party retailers across the United States and abroad. It's likely most consumers will never see beyond the outer casing of this machine - but this community is all about going a whole lot deeper.

iPad Air in stores with price-matching (if you know where to look)

The Apple iPad Air goes on sale online and in-stores today, with not just the Apple Store itself sending the machine out to the public. This device is the newest in a line of iPad devices having been released over the past several years, this time bringing on the thinnest and smallest physical footprint the larger of the two iPad models has ever had. This device will continue to be sold alongside the iPad mini and soon the iPad mini with Retina display - likely by the end of this month for the latter.

There is no “Apple Trap”

There is no “Apple Trap”

There's a conspiracy theory appearing in print this week summoning up the suggestion that Apple purposefully creates products that become obsolete over time. The very idea that such an article exists - here in 2013, no less - but that it only targets one single company as such makes it clear: someone didn't do their homework. Claims against Apple specifically are made by the NYTimes in an article called "Why Apple wants to bust your iPhone" in its online edition and "Cracking the Apple Trap" in print.

Tweetbot 3 for iPhone gets complete iOS 7 redesign (but you’ll have to pay)

Tweetbot 3 for iPhone has been released, one of the most popular Twitter clients for Apple's platform, updated for iOS 7 and the shift away from skeuomorphic design. iPad Air sparks iPad Pro tablet talk

iPad Air sparks iPad Pro tablet talk

Almost immediately after Apple's iPad Air was revealed earlier this week, talk of the next generation began. With the name "Air" in Apple's notebook lineup, one of two different naming conventions, word sprung up that an iPad Pro could be in the works. While we've seen more than our fair share of leaks and tips over the past several weeks (and months, believe it or not) of the iPads that appeared officially just this Tuesday, word of the iPad Pro comes only from precedent.

iPad Air vs Surface 2 vs Nexus 7: No Contest

iPad Air vs Surface 2 vs Nexus 7: No Contest

The war is on for the most sought-after tablet on the market, and the differentiation between the front-runners appears now, more than ever, to be strikingly high. What we've got from Apple is the iPad Air, a new far-smaller iteration of the same Retina display as the 4th generation unit. From Google there's the Nexus 7 (2013), a low-priced high-powered Android tablet manufactured by ASUS. Microsoft's competitor in the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 works with Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT, making this battle a three-way fight between operating systems right off the bat.

iPad mini 2 official with Retina display

iPad mini 2 official with Retina display

This morning Apple has officially brought on a 2nd generation of their popular iPad mini tablet, complete with Retina display. This version of the iPad mini works with a body and presentation extremely similar to the original, working with a physical appearance not all that unlike the iPad mini's first edition. This iPad mini will be hitting the market with at least two different colorways - a darker gray and a lighter silver / white, and will be appearing aside the new 5th generation iPad - the iPad Air as well.
