iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner legit says former biometrics tech team exec

Talk of new fingerprint scanning technology in the iPhone 5S may not be that far off the mark, with a new set of photos and some background from a biometric security expert lending weight to the chatter. The part photos were shared by Sonny Dickson, notorious for getting his hands on upstream Apple hardware and digging deep inside beta software code for early reveals - now he's got what seems to be a new home button for the iPhone 5S. This device appears by all means to be a legitimate piece of equipment that could be used by the next-generation hardware - and we've heard this story before.

Apple iPhone September 10th event confirmed as invites land

Apple has confirmed it will hold an event on September 10th, sending out invites to press, with the iPhone 5S expected to take center stage alongside a cheaper iPhone and iOS 7. Speculation about the September 10th show has been high for some weeks now, with some rumors pegging not only new phones but a full iPad tablet refresh as well. That could mean not only the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, but an iPad 5 and iPad mini 2.

Visualizing the iPhone Color

Visualizing the iPhone Color

Though when this article is being written and published, we're not certain of what the next iPhone will be called, it does seem quite likely that there'll be a version with a plastic back cover in a variety of colors. This device has been code-named iPhone 5C in the tech news circuit, and may very well be called the iPhone Color when revealed at an event tentatively scheduled (not Apple official quite yet) for the 10th of September. So what's this plastic iPhone all about?

Apple support vacation blackout dates suggest September iPhone launch

Apple support vacation blackout dates suggest September iPhone launch

A document has surfaced today from the inner realm of Apple product support that suggests the dates between and including September 15th through the 29th will not be available for employee vacation. This range of dates for a blackout provided by AppleInsider suggest something very similar to what we saw earlier this week from T-Mobile USA, they having a black-out range starting on the 20th of September and running through a 3-day range (through the weekend, that is). Such dates suggest not only an iPhone launch, but the release of iOS 7 as well.

iOS 7 AppleCare employee training schedule further supports a September 10 event

iOS 7 AppleCare employee training schedule further supports a September 10 event

AppleCare employees are said to have begun iOS 7 training. The details suggest the training process began today, but perhaps a bit more important is when they are expected to have everything completed. Details coming from 9to5Mac mention how those employees should have everything finished by the second week of September. In other words, this is another piece of evidence pointing towards a September 10 release.

Gold iPhone 5S looks a September 10 lock-in

Gold iPhone 5S looks a September 10 lock-in

Apple's iPhone 5S will almost certainly come in a gold or champagne finish, multiple sources have confirmed with insiders familiar with the next-gen iOS 7 flagship smartphone, describing the finish as "elegant" rather than gaudy. After reports over the weekend of a new color option for the iPhone 5S alongside the existing black and silver, and chatter of leaked parts earlier this month, now AllThingsD claims its moles have told it to "think champagne, not ingot" about the third hue, which will be paired with a white fascia. However, the gold iPhone 5S isn't solely about a new color, with long-standing talk of fingerprint biometrics expected to culminate in a new push for smartphone security in iOS 7 and beyond.

iPad and iPhone refresh at Apple September 10 event says insider

Apple will unveil both new iPhones and iPads at its rumored September 10 event,  sources claim, rather than just the previously-expected iPhone 5S and its cheaper iPhone 5C sibling. The upcoming event, widely expected to be held on September 10 after Samsung and others have demonstrated their latest wares at IFA 2013 in Germany, will feature a new range of presumably iOS 7 hardware, Bloomberg's insider familiar with the arrangements claims, comprising both smartphone and tablet designs.
