iPad Mini details leaked by Cygnett cases

This week it appears that the iPad mini - a device not yet confirmed by Apple - has had details leaked by none other than accessory makers Cygnett in a couple of cases released to a storefront in Australia. Normally this sort of thing would be mentionable, but it's generally a small brand that makes a point of showing off their pre-release device cases - in this case, a big brand like Cygnett would never show off cases early because such a reveal would be looked upon by Apple as a major breach of trust. iPhone 5 demand strong despite Apple Maps concerns, analyst claims

You may be thinking that Apple's iOS 6 Maps fiasco is leading to decreased demand for the iPhone 5. According to Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu, you would be wrong. iOS 6 adoption now at 60% for iPhones, iPod Touch lagging behind

Apple's iOS 6 operating system has been out on the market for almost two weeks now, and already we're seeing 60% of iPhone users making the leap to the updated version. iPad owners are coming in second with a 45% adoption rate, and the iPod Touch is lagging behind with just 39% of owners updating to iOS 6. Apple axes in-app ads for non-iTunes stores

There's a clause in the iOS developer guidelines listing that has reportedly been added on the 12th of September that may well have far-reaching effects on the way game and app creators find cash outside the iTunes app store. This note says that “Apps that display Apps other than your own for purchase or promotion in a manner similar to or confusing with the App Store will be rejected.” Bad news for those that come in to the iTunes app store with a free offering hoping to spur purchases for themselves in stores outside Apple's own. iPad mini event invites tipped for October 10th

The next-generation iPad mini device that's been rumored for just about as long as the iPad's been out on its own has once again been suggested to be coming this October, with a set of invites being sent on the 10th of this month. The event invites have been tipped by a source speaking with CNN who they say also just happens to be a major Apple investor. This source supposedly spoke with "multiple sources", each saying that the invites would be sent on the 10th, the event would be on the 17th, and the iPad mini would be shipped on November 2nd (a Friday). Verizon iPhone 5 carrier update fixes WiFi and 3G issue

The iPhone 5 has been out for a little over a week now, and we've already seen some issues arise. Of course, the Apple Maps debacle was certainly up there and caused a lot of frustration for users. Apple now makes it super easy to use alternative maps

iPhone 5 Pandora rival still possible as Sony sets snag

A lovely bit of news mixed with a bit of a downer for the first owners of the iPhone 5 has come down today from the NYPost where they've got an inside track on deals between Apple and Sony/ATV for streaming music rights. It appears that though Apple had been working on a competitor for the most popular streaming music radio app Pandora, but ran into a last-minute snag in negotiations with Sony/ATV. The Sony/ATV group is the world's largest music publisher and is currently in the process of buying EMI Music Publishing, this eventually placing them in control of 2 million copyrights that span the globe. Tim Cook’s Maps apology a massive display of power

Apple had a bad situation on their hands when it became apparent over the past week that their new non-Google “Maps” app appeared to fall short of expectations, but Tim Cook took this situation today and flipped it on its head entirely. It’s not that Cook apologized for the situation – the situation being that Apple Maps (without Google) isn’t as perfect as they wanted it to be – it’s that inside this apology, he encouraged users to use other products while they remain patient for Apple Maps to improve. Tim Cook took a situation where Apple could easily have said “just chill out” to the public and said instead, in so many words, “we’re confident enough in our own product that we’ll literally tell you to use other solutions while we prove to you that you’ll want to return to us when the time is right” – this is rare in the tech industry.
