iPhone 4S sales to get 18.8 million 3GS upgrades

iPhone 4S sales should be strong suggests Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, who projects that a good portion of sales will come from iPhone 3GS users upgrading to the latest Apple smartphone. iTunes 10.5 with iCloud available for download now

Today we get our first glimpse of iCloud in action via iTunes 10.5, released one day ahead of the Wednesday launch of both iOS 5 and iCloud itself. This update to iTunes gives you features such as iTunes in the Cloud and wireless syncing of your iDevices via Wi-fi, and it’s available for download for both Mac and Windows PC computers today. The whole shebang drops this week, day by day, and we’ll all be living in the cloud by the end of the month!

iPhone price range shows carrier’s costs

Analyst Horace Dedlo of asymco has published a report that takes the newest selection of iPhones, ranging from the iPhone 3GS locked (for free) all the way up to the iPhone 4S 64GB unlocked (for $849) and suggests that this is the first time Apple has offered a real portfolio of choices for consumers. Along with this, he places the prices for unlocked variants on top of a chart for locked variants of the iPhone, showing quite clearly that not only is there a simple nearly-singular price difference between the locked and unlocked versions of each of the different iPhone models. Furthermore, there's a direct correlation between the ASP (average selling price) of the iPhone from just this past quarter and the current price portfolio Apple has for the iPhone now. iPhone 4S pre-order stock sold out inside first day of sales

While the only reported sales numbers are coming from AT&T at “200,000 orders”, it’s clear if you visit any of the three carriers OR the Apple store itself that the iPhone 4S has now completely sold out of its pre-order stock. Have a look at your Apple store online and you’ll find that pre-order sales have shifted to 1-2 weeks, this putting shipping dates past the original delivery date quoted on the day of announcement. What this means is that if you’d like to get an iPhone 4S on launch day, you’re going to have to head down to one of the three carriers or your local Apple store and set up a tent – camping time, ladies and gentlemen!

AT&T iPhone 4S limits at one per person

Reports today suggest that the iPhone 4S sales in the USA, or at least at AT&T stores, will be limited to one per person, with no differentiation made between normal sales and existing customer upgrades. In what is said to be an iPhone 4S training document sent out in PDF form to workers, AT&T has made clear that regardless of the purchases of said device being New, Upgrade, or No Commitment, "One device per person" is the limit. Steve Jobs Passes Away, the world mourns a legend

Today we’ve learned a sad fact, as reported by Apple themselves, that Steve Jobs has passed away. In a statement published by Apple’s Board of Directors it was announced that Jobs passing has of course brought sadness as well as reverence to the hearts of all that knew him. The world has lost a great mind and a great man, and we all mourn his passing with the utmost respect and honor.

Sprint iPhone will have Unlimited Data Plan

In a confirmation that comes less than 24 hours after the first announcement that Sprint would finally, at long last, get their own set of iPhone devices, the 3rd largest mobile carrier in the USA has announced that they'd be working with unlimited data plans for the release. It's been confirmed that these unlimited plans would be starting at just $69.99 and would include unlimited data and 450 voice minutes plus unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling. Samsung releases iPhone 4S vs Galaxy S II Product Spec sheet

In a rather simply yet powerful gesture from Samsung, a graphic has been released with the headers Product Spec, Samsung Galaxy S II, and iPhone 4S which show a simple comparison between the two competing devices. This less than 24 hours after the first announcement of Apple's newest flagship smartphone. What we can see here is a truly comparable set of devices with what appears to be an Android winning out in the end - see that blue text? That's where the Galaxy S II is 1-upping the iPhone.
