iOS 5.0.1 beta fixes battery woes, enables iPad gestures

Apple's iOS 5.0.1 beta - seeded to developers yesterday - not only promises to address the iOS 5 battery life issues many owners have experienced, but also fixes some of the more vocally complained about problems for the iPad and iPad 2. Original iPad owners discovered that the full release of iOS 5 removed the gesture support present in the beta version, something which has now been added back in with iOS 5.0.1, MacRumors reports. Apple confirms iOS 5 / iPhone 4S battery issues

Since early after iOS 5 was released several weeks ago for iPhone, users have complained of battery issues, and today it's become officially confirmed by an Apple representative that not only are there several bugs, they're working to fix them all up in a single patch to be released soon. We've addressed this concern ourselves this past week and have confirmed that just a single switch in the settings panel alleviates much of the concern. Apple iOS owns mobile browser share at over 61%

Apple's iOS platform may no longer be the most commonly used in smartphones, but take into account tablets and the platform not only has the most market share but makes up the majority of mobile/tablet web access, according to the latest stats. Browser counters Net Applications have crunched hits on their network of tracking customers and reckon that, as of October 2011, iOS accounted for 61.64-percent of mobile browser use. iPhone 4S hits 15 new countries November 11

Apple has announced the next batch of countries set to get the iPhone 4S, with Hong Kong, South Korea and Greece among the fifteen new locations where the fifth-gen iOS smartphone will launch. Shoppers in Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Malta, Montenegro, New Zealand, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Romania and South Korea will see shipments and in-store sales beginning November 11.

Gmail for iPhone coming soon

It's not often that we post about a single app here on SlashGear, so when we do, you know it means a lot to a lot of people - today the news comes down about a real live Gmail app for the iPhone. Word has been passed to publisher MG Siegler that after four years of the iOS platform existing without an official client for Gmail, one will be released, complete with Push Notifications.
