With version 5.4 of Facebook’s hero app for iOS you’ve got three big updates including in-app video recording and sharing, voice messaging, and an improved Nearby tab. With these improvements we’re seeing a Facebook that continues to become a one-stop-shop for every bit of web-based communication you do with your friends. Pretty soon there will be no need for any apps outside of Facebook (that is if all of your acquaintances are connected to the ecosystem as well, of course).
The popular new app switcher that we told you about a couple weeks ago is now available for iOS 5.1 devices and higher. Previously, it was only available for iOS 6 devices, but the developer has now released it for those who aren't willing to upgrade to Apple's latest operating system. Apple iPhone 4S owners who don't realize that you can't suddenly turn a phone from a 3G device to a 4G device with a magical software update, are pretty excited to see that after downloading the new iOS update their phone now shows a 4G icon. Those who realize that just isn't possible are finding out that Apple messed up.

Well, that was certainly quick. iOS 5.1 hasn’t even been with us for 24 hours, but already there’s a tethered jailbreak. It’s not all good news though: it’s only available for devices not running Apple’s A5. Apple's just announced iOS 5.1 update is available now for download on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. The update was shown running on the new iPad, formerly iPad 3 or iPad HD, unveiled this morning and is expected to roll out over-the-air starting today. New Siri Japanese language support in iOS 5.1 was highlighted during Apple's presentation among a host of other improvements.
