Apple iAd European debut in December; adverts from LG, Nespresso & more

Apple's iAd service is due to arrive in Europe come December 2010, having made its US debut back in July. The service - which slots in-app adverts into titles available through the Apple App Store - will launch in the UK and France in December, followed by Germany in January 2011, and feature ads from L’Oréal, Renault, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier, Unilever, Citi, Evian, LG Display, AB InBev, Turkish Airlines and Absolute Radio.

While Steve Jobs was busy announcing things on stage a few weeks ago, one main focus of that update was the announcement that iOS 4.1 was just around the corner. But, there was more to the story that had people eagerly anticipating the last bit of the year. Apple's iOS 4.2, which is the first iOS 4 update compatible for Apple's iPad, brings a lot of new features to the table. For example, being able to print wirelessly (which, coincidentally enough, just went into the hands of developers, too). But, there's plenty more in store for developers right now.

iPhone 3G iOS 4 fix “coming soon” says purported Jobs email

We've learnt to be pretty skeptical about emails purported to be from Steve Jobs, but the prospect of an imminent fix for iPhone 3G owners with slow, glitchy and downright frustrating handsets after updating to iOS 4 is too good to be true.  Having heard that Apple were investigating the reports, a Mac Rumors reader emailed the CEO to ask if an official downgrade option was really in the works; according to Jobs' reply, there's a "software update coming soon."

iPod touch 4th Gen, iPad 2nd Gen and unknown device (Apple iTV?) tipped in iOS 4.1 beta leak

What look to be three new pieces of Apple hardware have shown up in an internal build of iOS 4.1, according to details leaked to AppleInsider.  The beta firmware - apparently scheduled for release in a few weeks time - mentions the "iPod 4,1" (a fourth-generation iPod touch), the "iProd 2,1" (tipped to be a significant update to the iPad) and, most mysteriously, a device only listed as "unknownHardware".  It's speculated that the latter could be Apple's upcoming refresh of the Apple TV.
