Just about everything that I want to share across my network connects via USB. Generally, if I want to share my printer or an external HDD I just connect it to my PC and then allow other computers to share it via my computer. That never seems to work for too long though because every other time someone tries to print they get error messages and you have to remember to leave the computer the devices are physically connected to on at all times.

IOGEAR has an interesting new four-port USB wireless sharing station that will make it easy to connect to your peripherals even if you turn your computer off. The four-port USB hub is called the Wireless 4-Port sharing Station and is part number GUWIP204. The device can be used to connect anything that has a USB cable on your WiFi network.

It will work with printers, external HDDs, memory card readers, webcams, speakers, and just about anything else you can think of. The device also supports USB 2.0 hub extension. The hub is available right now for $99.95.

I bet most of us have more than one gadget that can benefit from a keyboard at some point. Things like your smartphone, computer, tablet, netbook, and lots more. The catch is that generally, you need a keyboard for each one of those devices or at least you have to sync a Bluetooth keyboard to each device each time you want to use it. IOGEAR has a new Multi-Link Bluetooth Mini Keyboard GKB601B that promises to be able to link with six different devices.

The wireless keyboard has a range of about 30-feet and will work with your PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet, iPad, game console and other devices that have Bluetooth and support HID profile on Android or iOS 4.0. That is a lot of different gadgets. The keyboard measures 9.125″ x 4.5″ and weighs 0.35 pounds. It is designed for comfortable typing and it has hot keys for some functions on certain devices like a Home key for the iPad.

The keyboard also has dedicated hot keys for Windows Media Center. The keys use membrane switches and are made to be silent with no clicks for stealth use. The keyboard ships with a cloth carry pouch and is available right now for $99.95.

The kit streams HD audio and video with 3D support up to 100 feet away and allows for connecting six different AV devices to the kit.

IOGEAR uses its own 802.11n integrated hardware that claims to steam the content with no latency or interference from nearby wireless routers. The content can be streamed to up to four wireless 3D receivers for multi-room systems and the kit doesn’t need line of site to operate.

Other features of the 3D Media Kit include support for full 1080p 60Hz resolution content and 5.1 audio. The device has four HDMI inputs, composite, VGA, and USB input. The outputs for the device are a single HDMI and a single USB. The system will work with non-HD components and has integrated IR controller. The kit will ship in Q1 with pricing announced “soon” according to IOGEAR.

Iogear makes a full line of gear and peripherals for computers and notebooks. The company also has a new line of AV products that are aimed for the enthusiast looking for complete control and integration of multiple AV components.

The new line of gear is called the Avior series and includes a collection of switches, splitters, HDMI adapters, cables, extenders, and wireless USB transmitters. The most interesting product in the Avior line is the HDMI Control Center. The Control center connects to several HDMI devices from Blu-ray players to computers.

Once all your gear is connected to it, you can access and control the center via an included 2.4GHz wireless keyboard that features a built-in laser trackball and scroll wheel. The device is HDMI 1.3 and HDCP compliant and the Control Center has two USB ports for sharing photos and other content between computers. The device even includes all the cables needed for connecting up to four HDMI devices.

Wireless video is one of those things that you really wouldn’t think would be all that hard, but high-profile retreats such as Belkin’s FlyWire are showing it isn’t necessarily as easy as squirting HDTV across the open air of your living room. Everything USB have been testing out IOGear’s Wireless USB AV Kit, and finding that you’re not so much cutting cables as rearranging them.

The main components – for USB connection to your PC, VGA connection to your HDTV, and audio output to your home theater receiver – are relatively compact, but of course each requires their own cabling together with at least two wall-wart power bricks. Range is a quoted 30 feet for line-of-site use, so expect less if you want to hide the adapters in an AV cabinet, and maximum resolution supported is 720p or 1600 x 1200 rather than Full HD.

Everything USB found, though, that maximum range topped out at around 13 feet, unless you wanted regular picture drop-outs, and that’s only for remote desktop use from the PC. Try playing 480p video and you’ll get around 10 feet, plus there’s no surround sound, DVI or HDMI connectivity. In the end, it’s a niche product the arduous setup of which makes the appeal of which even more limited, and when you factor in an MRSP of $299.99 it’s a potentially expensive frustration.

And simple gadgets like the one released by IOGEAR today do exactly that. The Printer Auto Sharing Switch has two ports and it works with both Macs and PCs.

I know it’s not much to look at, but this is no doubt convenient. IOGEAR is claiming this switch is the first of its kind to completely recognize both PCs and Macs. You can use two computers that run on either platform with this switch. All you have to do is plug the computers into the switch and the switch into the printer. That’s all there is to it.

It works with any USB printer and can detect which computer is requesting a print job automatically. That’s pretty convenient, if you ask me. The switch is powered by the USB bus and requires Windows 2000 and up or Mac OS X Panther and up. You can get your hands on the IOGEAR Printer Auto Sharing Switch today for $40.

There are a ton of different USB hubs out there these days. Many pack in the ports but they often do so in a cluttered and wasteful way. With ports that are too close together and connectors that are too bulky, you always end up with at least one wasted port.

But the IOGEAR 3-Port USB 2.0 Hub offers a solution to that pesky problem. Also known by its model number, GUH276, this Mobile Hub has a built-in mini-USB cable plus three USB 2.0 ports that face upward. They are also evenly spaced, meaning no wasted ports this time around.

This latest IOGEAR offering is stylish and simple. What more could you ask for? Plus, the price tag is a reasonable $12.95 with a limited three-year warranty. Now, you can’t beat that. If you’re always finding yourself one USB port short, this might be the right accessory for you.

Using the joystick on the front of the receiver, you can control volume and change tracks. The device looks fairly small, but you run the risk of looking a little geeky having this clipped to your shirt pocket.

If you’re in the market for a stereo Bluetooth headset, this is a steal at 89.95. Comes with a set of headphones, charger with euro adapter, and a few extra cables. No software required.

This wonderful device converts your handwriting, on any piece of paper, into a digital form on your computer. There is also OCR software that can convert your (semi-legible, I mean I am sure there are limits) handwriting into a text document.

In the box, you will find the pen, the USB receiver with retractable cable, a couple batteries, and a MiniCD with the software on it. The device requires Windows 2000 or better and office 2000 or better.

Finally, something that’s fairly priced that you can use with Microsoft OneNote. This would be great for a math class, or other class where you often have to take notes that have drawings in them, because I don’t know about you, but I am a lot quicker typist than writer. So you can get yours now for $60, looks like fun.
