Twitter severs Tumblr friend finder privileges

It seems twitter is out to cut any application that creates a lot of traffic via its friend finder feature off the teat. Not too long ago Twitter cut Instagram off from the friend finding service and now a second major service has been cut off by twitter. FTC Facebook Instagram investigation ends silently

Today an investigation into the proposed purchase of the photo sharing app Instagram by the social network Facebook has been ended as silently as it was started. The acquisition of Instagram was made famous earlier this year as Facebook payed a reported $1 billion dollar sum to take over the brand in its entirety. The FTC's Bureau of Competition worked with the Bureau of Economics to investigate the deal to make sure no anticompetitive business practices were taking place - they found nothing to write home about. Instacube hits Kickstarter aiming to show off your Instagram feed

Digital photo frames have been around for a long time and have proven to be very popular. There are a few digital photo frames out there that have Wi-Fi connectivity allowing them to show photographs from social networking sites such as Facebook and others. Some these frames even have their own e-mail address so you can e-mail a photograph directly to the frame for a loved one to view. Instagram 3.0 update brings Photo Mapping history

This week the folks behind the massively popular photography app for iOS and Android called Instagram are updating both Android and iOS environments to include a function called Photo Mapping. This makes the company's purchase by Facebook seem all the sweeter as Facebook's own geo-location tagging is alive and well, but has little use other than to make note of where each of a person's posts have been made. BlackBerry 10 features built-in picture editor

One of the features that RIM showed off at BlackBerry World this year was a swanky new camera for BlackBerry 10. Thanks to technology licensed from Scalado, the camera features remove and rewind features, helping to discard unwanted background objects and pick the best face in a photo thanks to a caching feature. Socialmatic promises Instagram-for-real prototype by end of year

Earlier in the year, a design team called ADR Studio created a camera concept based off the Instagram icon used for iOS and Android. Now the designer of Socialmatic, Antonio De Rosa, says the concept could see a fully working prototype before the end of the year. De Rosa recently returned from Singapore where he met several manufacturers based in Hong Kong, saying that he had secured a partner that will bridge the gap between the concept and the manufacturing. Instagram update makes use of Nexus 7 front-facing camera

This week the folks at Instagram have made it clear that they want to be on every Android device, even the Nexus 7 which does not have a standard camera on its back. This device is the reason Instagram has been updated to make use of front-facing cameras in its latest update, choosing the one camera this device has by default rather than saying it's not compatible with a device with no back-facing shooter. Cook talks Apple aquisitions at D10

This week Tim Cook spoke at the most recent All Things D conference in their opening ceremony about a great many things, not least of them on how Apple plans on continuing their pattern of purchasing smaller companies. Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg inquired with Cook as to why companies like Facebook and Twitter have different amounts of integration with Apple's mobile products, this leading Cook to note that as far as Facebook goes: "We have great respect for them. I think we can do more with them. ... They have their way of doing things, but people could say the same thing about us." This lead directly into Swisher's next question on whether or not Cook saw Apple making more acquisitions of companies in the future. Read The Full Story
