Retina MacBook Pro 13-inch and iMacs being shipped by suppliers now

This week may be all about the iPhone 5, but Apple is apparently gearing up for other launches a little more silently. According to DigiTimes, which has spoken to sources from Apple's "upstream supply chain," the company's suppliers have started shipping a new line of iMac all-in-ones and and the new MacBook Pro 13.3-inch with Retina Display. Apparently, these new computers will be launching sometime this month or in October.

iPhone 5 launch date imminent as 4S included in “recycling” program

Apple has launched a program on their own website called Reuse and Recycling in which they're more than willing to take your iPhone 4S for a gift certificate in their store. Of course the main reason a lot of people will be doing this is that once the iPhone 5 (or whatever it'll be called) is on the market, the iPhone 4S might not look so fabulous anymore. To the early adopter "must have it" crowd, that is.

New iMac and Mac Pro models could ditch optical drives

Apple refreshed its line of notebooks at WWDC in June, but the Mac Pro and iMac were left out of the festivities. Apple later confirmed that updates for both machines were on the way, and now Apple Insider has discovered references to new models after digging around inside some configuration files. When examining the Boot Camp files, references to several unreleased Mac Pros and iMacs were discovered, with the specific model numbers listed in a place that indicates they may not come with optical drives.

Apple confirms Tim Cook’s 2013 Mac Pro promise

Now it’s been officially confirmed by Apple’s PR that Cook’s email is genuine, and a Mac Pro refresh is coming.

New iMac and Mac Pro reportedly coming in 2013

Apple may have refreshed its line of MacBook Airs and MacBook pros, as well as introduce the next-gen MacBook Pro with a Retina display, but iMac and Mac Pro updates were noticeably absent. The Mac Pro did get a very sneaky update after the event, but it was a very minor refresh, mainly due to the fact that Intel stopped producing the chips that the models used. David Pogue of the New York Times has heard that updates to both lines are coming.

WWDC 2012: What’s not there is more interesting

Rumors ahead of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2012 (WWDC 2012) are flying thick and fast, with speculation, leaks and rumors all mounting as to what Tim Cook & Co. will reveal in the opening keynote. Apple puts on a good show, that's for certain, but it's sometimes more interesting to look at what doesn't make it to the stage than what products and services get their moment under the spotlight. Could this be the inflexion point for some old favorites, and how do the pre-show whispers fit in?

Mac Retina Display looking likely: High-res apps hit Mac App Store

Further evidence of a Retina Display upgrade for Apple's new Macs has emerged, with Mac App Store apps being quietly updated to apparently support the pixel-dense panels. File sync tool FolderWatch [iTunes link] has been spotted mentioning Retina graphics in a recent update, and while Apple is yet to confirm that the new computers - expected to make their debut at WWDC 2012 next week - will indeed follow the new iPad with a high-resolution display, it's nonetheless looking increasingly likely.
