Whew – what a day! For those who missed it, Apple held its big event today, revealing the iPhone 5 and new versions of the of the iPod Touch and the iPod Nano. You can see most of the day’s news in our iPhone 5 event wrap-up and our iPod Touch and Nano wrap-up, but of course, even more news about these new iDevices hit after those event wrap-ups were posted. For instance, we went hands-on with the iPhone 5 and then later with the 5th generation iPod Touch before getting the chance to check out Apple’s new EarPods, which have undergone a redesign just in time for the launch of the iPhone 5. If you’re more of an iPod Nano kind of person, then you’ll be pleased to know that we also have you covered in our hands-on with the 7th generation iPod Nano.

Later on in the day, Apple announced pricing for its new Lightning connector adapters (which can get a little steep in places), and released the iOS 6 Golden Master seed for developers ahead of the operating system’s release on September 19. A full list of iPhone 5 specs made it to the Apple Store this afternoon, and we found out that the iPhone 5 will offer both a GSM and CDMA version. iTunes 10.7 was delivered this afternoon as well, as was a gallery of iLuv’s upcoming iPhone 5 products. Toward the end of the day, Apple released a video featuring Jony Ive and Bob Mansfield giving us an introduction to the iPhone 5, and we ask where the iPhone 5′s rumored NFC functionality went.

As big as Apple’s event was, it wasn’t the only thing worth writing about today. A new report suggests that Windows Phone 8 may not be as far along as we thought, and Foxconn is in the public eye again after an undercover worker published a report on the conditions at the now-famous factory. Google was touting the latest Android numbers today, saying that 500 million Android devices have been activated worldwide.

We actually had quite a few stories about NASA today, with the Mars Orbiter finding signs of dry ice snowfall on the surface of the Red Planet. NASA scientists have viewed a massive impact on the surface of Jupiter, and perhaps most importantly, NASA celebrated the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s historic moon speech. Famous (or infamous, depending on whether or not you work for the RIAA) music sharer Jammie Thomas has lost her appeal, meaning that the court is still making her pay that whopping $220,000 fine, and finally tonight, Microsoft has been awarded a patent for an interesting new technology that makes us immediately think of Star Trek.

That does it for tonight’s Evening Wrap-Up. Be sure to have a look at our Apple portal to catch anything you might have missed from Apple’s presentation, but otherwise, enjoy the rest of your evening!

The folks at iLuv have revealed their full Galaxy Note II collection of accessories for the new Samsung hero devices. This collection wraps the device, covers the device, and even adds a couple extra pens to the mix so you have options beyond the S-Pen embedded within the phablet. This group is letting you know that in addition to the Samsung-made collection of accessories made for the Galaxy Note II, they have their own set – fully prepped for the Fall season of devices falling out of your pocket!

The Samsung Galaxy Note II is a device that’s slightly enhanced compared to the Galaxy Note already on the market – with a slightly larger display at 5.5-inches, an exterior design that looks much closer to the next generation of Samsung devices, and technology inside that connects quite well to your Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 10.1, you’ll be bumpin’! Of course you don’t want to be bumpin’ against the ground too much without protection.

iLuv presents first the Pocket Agent – this protective leather case also works as a stand so you can tap away while eating a sandwich – two viewing angles included! The Gelato Shield will have your front face protected from scratches while a soft cover keeps your edges and back safe from harm as well. There’a Clear Protective Film in the works as well that’s just a bit thinner than the Gelato Shield and, like the Shield, is guaranteed not to interfere with your device’s functionality or viewing.

There’s a Glare Free Protective Kit that’s made specifically to allow your touchscreen to work with zero distortion, regardless of the sun blasting it right into your eyeballs. A couple of already-released accessories that’ll work well with your Galaxy Note II are the ePen and the ePen Pro – both will be stylish additions to your device, but wont be working with S-Pen functionality like your built-in S-Pen would. These should be considered mostly fabulous due to their stylish appearance and ability to fit in with your pocket protector.

This whole range will be priced between $12.99 and $44.99 and some are available straight from iLuv’s online store right now. The rest will be popping up closer to the release date for the Galaxy Note II – makes sense!

iLuv has outed a bevy of new iPad 2 accessories as part of the company’s WorkStation Series, including a PC-style desktop dock and various wireless keyboards. Of the range, it’s the iLuv iMM737 “The WorkStation” and iLiuv iMM517 WorkStation Pro that stand out the most, the former having a posable mount for the Apple tablet and a wired keyboard with iOS-specific shortcut keys, while the latter has a Bluetooth keyboard and speaker-dock functionality.

There’s also the iLuv iCK826/iSK912 Professional WorkStation Portfolio case, with a detachable Bluetooth keyboard that can slot into a clamshell iPad carry-case. As well as an iPad version, iLuv will also offer one for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, with each keyboard having OS-specific shortcut keys.

Finally, there’s the iLuv iBTKB20 WorkStation Bluetooth Keyboard, which as the name suggests hooks up to your iPad 2 wirelessly and allows for easier text entry. Laptop-style keys keep things low-profile. Pricing for the range will span from $49.99 to $179.99, with the majority of products expected to go on sale next month; the iLuv iMM737 WorkStation Dock will follow on in November.

iLuv is typically offering up a new iPod or iPhone dock when we talk about them here at SlashGear. The company is now branching out and offering the users of the iPad a new speaker dock that will let them charge and listen to music at the same time. The new dock is called the iMM747.

That’s good name for the product, it seems very wide and it makes me think about jumbo jets when I hear the name. The dimensions of the dock are 14.3″ W x 5″ H x 3.7″ D and the thing weighs two pounds. It slurps down 15W of juice when in use and has a mini USB port for syncing the iPad, a 3.5mm aux input jack, and a power adapter port.

The best news about the dock is that while it will fit your iPad, it will also sync and charge your iPhone or iPod as well thanks to a flexible and adjustable dock design that needs none of those irritating inserts. The speakers themselves have separate drivers for treble, mid-range, and bass along with radiators to increase that bass. The dock will sell for $149.99 when it launches this month.

When we think about iLuv, we’re reminded of some very interesting, if not completely innovative accessories. And this time around, with the introduction of three new speaker options, iLuv hasn’t missed the mark. Each accessory is designed for a particular gadget in mind, ranging from your laptop to your iPod Touch, but all of which will bring you your audio needs in great quality.

First up is the iLuv iSP130, which is designed to be your perfect speaker companion. It’s USB powered, and it features a built-in hanging clip, which means you’ll be able to mount it if you really need to. And then we have the iSP170, which are of the cubed variety, and is also USB powered. It’s designed for use with your laptop or PC, and they’re remarkably small: 2.8″ x 2.8″ x 2.8″. So you should be able to find room on your desk. They’re also rocking built-in volume control.

Finally, we have the iLuv iSP150, which is a portable speaker bar. iLuv says it’s perfectly ideal for your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, but from the looks of it, it makes more sense on a desk. It features a connector for 3.5mm audio jacks. It’s got a built-in power switch, volume control, and it’s light and small enough for travel. It’s got two power sources: USB or 4 AAA batteries. All three speaker options are available right now if you’re interested, from iLuv’s website. You can pick up the iSP130 for $19.99; the iSP150 for $34.99; and the iSP170 for $39.99

At the time, iLuv was going to ship the device in February for about $129. February came and went without the device hitting the market.

iLuv has now announced that the iMM190 App Station is shipping for iPhone and iPod touch users. The device is a speaker dock that is app driven. A free companion app can be installed on the iPhone to allow the App Station to be used as an alarm clock.

The app also shows weather conditions as well. The dock allows access to the media collection stored on the iPhone and works for watching movies or VoIP as well. The best news is that the price for the App Station has been cut to $89.99. That $40 discount makes the extra wait for the device worth it. The device is available right now.

iLuv knows you have trouble getting up in the morning, and they want to help. The new iLuv iMM178 Vibe Plus is an alarm clock with a difference, and that difference is a “shake & awake” attachment on the end of a cord. Hide it under your pillow and, when the alarm goes off – which, since the iMM178 Vibe Plus is also an iPhone/iPod speaker dock, could mean your favorite playlist – it’ll shake you until you get up.

Personally, the thought of being vigorously assaulted every morning doesn’t exactly fill me with glee. Still, there’s an FM digital radio and stereo speakers if you’re not so tempted by the head-shaking, together with a handy volume control on the vibra-attachment as well as on the main body of the clock.

Alarm settings allow for every-day, workday or weekend use, with two alarms in case you share a bed. It’s compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone, iPod Touch 2nd generation, iPod Touch, iPod Nano 1st to 5th generation, iPod Classic, iPod with video, iPod 4th generation and iPod mini, and is available now priced at $89.99.

Each adapter can accept voltages from 100 to 240V at 50 or 60Hz, making them good for traveling. Meanwhile each of the USB ports they sport outputs 5V 500mAh which should suit most PMPs, digital cameras and cellphones.

The iLuv iAD117 is priced at $19.99, while the iLuv iAD116 comes in at $14.99, and both will begin shipping in September. That’s cheaper than the BeamBox MiLi, though of course it lacks that adapter’s in-car plug and interchangeable plug sections.

Worried about your brand new iPod Shuffle getting scratched up? Have no fear, iLuv has just announced their new iPod shuffle cases for protecting that absurdly small aluminum piece of fun. The best part is that the iLuv Shuffle cases come in different colors, so if you found the silver or black color a little boring, you can dress up that iPod in white, pink, blue or black from the four pack of silicone cases. Also available are clear and tinted black cases in the two pack.

The cases offer protection for the shuffle while still allowing access to the switch and headphone jack, as well as use of the clip. The cases are available starting in April for $12.99 at i-Luv.

Apple released the 3rd Generation of their iPod shuffle quietly a few weeks ago to much debate over the removal of the buttons from the device itself, and the placement of the controls on the proprietary ear buds. There will be a review of the newest iPod Shuffle coming soon on SlashGear, so stay tuned.

If you’re a nut for accessories like I am, then you’ll love the latest from iLuv. They are the iEP505 earphones and these are definitely slick. The design is sleek and these earphones provide something to the iPod shuffle that has been notably missing–controls!

That’s right: the iEP505 provide in-line volume control for MP3 players and will soon be upgraded to include navigation controls for the recently released iPod shuffle. That’s good news for those of us that don’t like to be controlled by the whims of the shuffle at all times!

The earphones themselves possess drivers that are meant to improve frequency range and audio reproduction. The price point is pretty decent at $50 and you have your choice of several stylish color options including black, white, pink, red and blue. However, only black is available at the moment. The rest of the colors will be available in the second quarter.

Video capable iPods have made portable media all the more accessible. Attempt to watch anything more than a short clip on one, though, and you’ll be wishing for glasses or, preferably, a larger screen. That’s where the iLuv i1155 Portable Multimedia Player comes in, offering not only a big display for iPod video playback but a DVD for all the legacy discs that copyright laws won’t let you rip. It even manages to look attractive; is the experience as good as the promise, though?

To load either your iPod or a DVD, the iLuv i1155 opens up like a laptop; inside there’s a DVD bay and a cut-out for the PMP. The screen is on the outside, so the i1155 is intended to be used as a slate, not with the lid flipped up like most portable DVD players. Somewhat strange is iLuv’s choice of iPod accommodation: the compact slot will only fit the iPod Classic, iPod Video and 3rd generation iPod Nano, and the latter will require an adapter (sold-separately) in order to bring its display up to the window cutout to the right-hand side of the LCD.

The point of any dock of this nature is to give you a bigger, better display than what comes on your iPod, and happily iLuv didn’t stint on their choice. Measuring 8.4-inches and true 16:9 wide-aspect, the LCD is clear and bright, with no shadowing, and has reasonable viewing angles to either side. We’d say around 130-degrees maintaining decent color. An adjustable stand flaps out of the back of the unit and allows it to be propped up at various angles.

Control is either via the included remote or the touch-sensitive buttons on the i1155 itself. Although these roughly resemble the layout of an iPod’s scroll-wheel, there’s actually no scrolling functionality; instead you get simple illuminated skip/pause/stop/etc keys. For DVDs, it’s everything you need to navigate the standard menus on the i1155′s screen; iPod navigation is done on the PMP’s own display, visible through the small window, with only actual playback on the main display.

Sound quality from the i1155 is decent, and there are two headphone sockets in addition to the integrated speakers making it handy for in-car use. Unfortunately the DVD player mechanism itself is far from discrete, with a continuous, loud spinning sound whenever it’s playing a disc. Compounding that, the volume from the internal speakers doesn’t go as high as we’d like; you could hook up a larger, amplified pair through the audio output jack, but that seems an unnecessary chore when the i1155 is meant to be a standalone solution.

Fully charged, the iLuv i1155 lasted us 2 hours and 42 minutes in DVD playback. That’s almost twenty minutes short of iLuv’s expectations. iPod playback lasts longer, but not as much as you might expect; the company predicts around 4 hours, and we got within a stone’s throw of that. What all that means is that you’ll be wanting to carry the included AC adapter and cigarette lighter adapter with you; a full charge takes 4-5hrs.

We’re not entirely convinced by the iLuv i1155. For a start, the limited number of supported iPods – which doesn’t include any of the current generation nano, touch or iPhone models – cuts down its potential audience significantly; throw in our review unit’s noisy DVD mechanism and it’s a potentially frustrating video dock on both counts. Reasonable battery life, a decent screen and slick design are in the iLuv i1155′s favor, but unless you fit the narrow niche you could do better shopping elsewhere.

The iLuv iMM183 features space for two iPods instead of one. That means that you can now charge your iPod or iPhone as well as your significant other’s iPod/iPhone or a backup iPod you might have laying around. This particular dock is also unique in that weather alerts have been built in. As you can see on the dock’s LED screen, weather alerts from NOAA and SAME show up as a text message, alerting you to weather emergencies.

The iMM183 should be available in March, but a price has not yet been mentioned. We’ll keep our ears open for a price announcement during CES.

Designed to work with PCs or Macs-operated laptop or desktop, the iLuv iSP200 packs a dual satellite speaker, a powered subwoofer, 32-watt of RMS power and SRS-XT surround-sound technology into a one fairly good looking soundbar. The unit is magnetically-shielded to avoid electron beam-distorted image when places close to a CRT monitor.

In addition to the USB hub, it has a 3.5mm speaker input, 3.5mm aux input and allows adjustment on volume, bass and treble controls. The iLuv iSP200 will not hit the market until next Summer, I have a feeling that the current suggested retail of $100 would change by then.

If you have an iPod with video (30GB, 60GB, 80GB), iPod nano (1st generation, 2nd generation), iPod mini or iPod 4G you’re good to go with the integrated dock, which will both suck the music from your PMP and recharge it simultaneously. The radio has 32 presets (split between FM and AM) and there’s a clock/alarm.

Total output is 20W via the included stereo speakers, but you can also add a subwoofer should extra bass be prescribed. It’s available in black and white – as the i9200BLK and i9200WHT, unsurprisingly – priced at $229.99.

iLuv have officially announced their latest internet radio, the iLuv iNT170, with access to 15,000 radio stations and podcasts, twin 2.5W stereo speakers and WiFi. The iNT170 has a large, dimmable monochrome display, FM radio and a dual-alarm digital clock; it can also be used with your iPod or other PMP, thanks to a 3.5mm line-in socket.

There’s space for either 40 or 16 station presets, depending on whether you go by the press release or the product page - either way they’re split equally between FM and internet channels – and a remote control. The clock automatically sets itself via your internet connection; there’s no word, though, on UPnP media streaming of audio files across your network.

The iLuv iNT170 is available now, priced at $199.99. We’re chasing up confirmation on the number of presets, and will update once we have a definite answer.

Update: iLuv tell us that there are 40 presets, twenty each for internet and FM radio stations, and that the iNT170 is only capable of playing internet radio, not UPnP streaming across your network. Unless you particularly want two alarms built into your WiFi streamer, we’d probably suggest taking your $200 elsewhere – this is just too expensive for what you get.

Somewhat confusingly, iLuv advertize the iSP100 as having 720-degree surround sound. That seems to be a reference to the multiple perforations all over the casing; the jAura Acoustic Speaker Technology the iSP100 also uses is not a pseudo-surround system but instead acoustic chambers used to eke out better audio quality from smaller drivers.

The iSP100 will be available worldwide in late September 2008, priced at $34.99. It ships with a carry-case

Rocking the budget-Bose look, iLuv’s latest surround sound home theatre setup, the i1255, gives you the choice between DVD and iPod audio and video playback. Your $149.99 obviously doesn’t get you a high-def powerhouse – outputs, for instance, are S-Video or standard AV - but there’s flexibility a-plenty if you’re not bothered with the 1080p revolution.

The built-in dock is compatible with most of the more recent Apple models: the 6th generation iPods, iPod touch, iPod classic (80GB, 160GB), iPod Nano 3rd Gen, and iPod with video (30GB, 60GB, 80GB). The i1255 simultaneously recharges the PMP and plays back media stored on it; an OSD lets you browse from the sofa.

Meanwhile, there are component video and coaxial digital audio outputs for the DVD player, which is content with not only DVDs but VCD, MP3 CD, audio CD, JPEG CD and Kodak Picture CD formats. An audio input lets you play music from another source, albeit not remotely controlled such as with the iPod, through the surround speakers.

You’re not going to be replacing a serious home entertainment system with this, but as a budget buy the price is right. The iLuv i1255 is available now.

iLuv have announced its first two HD Radio alarm clocks, the i168 and i169, which include stereo speakers, standard AM/FM radio, an auxiliary input and, in the case of the i169, a dock for your iPod. Both also feature dual alarms, which can rouse you with the radio, tracks from your iPod on the i169, or a boring old buzzer if you’re a traditionalist. The reasonably-sized displays are compatible with HD Radio’s text-on-screen feature, that displays station name, track title and artist information.

Each radio also features thirty programmable presets, ten for AM and twenty for FM. The i169 also ships with a remote control, something seemingly absent from the i168. There are more than 1,600 HD Radio stations at present, and in excess of 750 FM HD2/HD3 multicast stations.

The iLuv i168 is available now, priced at $89.99. Meanwhile, the iLuv i169 will be released in early May, priced at $169.99. That seems like quite a premium for basically an added iPod dock, especially when you could simply plug the PMP into the auxilary input (yes, you’d lose the track skip controls, but I guess you have to decide whether doing it manually is worth eighty bucks to you).
