Nest 3rd Gen detailed with larger, sharper display

The third generation Nest Learning Thermostat has been revealed with a new physical design and Farsight. So-called for its ability to see further than previous Nest devices, Farsight is a feature that "takes advantage of the new high-res screen", allowing users to glimpse information on the thermostat from distances much further than the previous 3-foot requirement. This new Nest will be made available today at a variety of online retailers.

Samsung Gear S2 details released in full [UPDATE: more images]

Three versions of Samsung's newest smartwatch, the Gear S2, have been revealed today. Each of the three, the Samsung Gear S2, Gear S2 classic, and Gear S2 3G will come with round faces and Tizen for their software platform. While the Gear S2 and S2 classic will come with Wi-fi connectivity, a Gear S2 3G version will also be released with the same specifications save a slot for a 3G SIM card. Each of these devices will also come with Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC, and will be released likely by the end of the year.

ASUS full IFA product lineup details teased

ASUS teases a collection of devices they'll likely unveil in full at IFA 2015 starting on the 4th of September. One video shows off a set of devices - at least three, by the looks of it - each with classic ASUS industrial design. The first and most obvious of these is the new ASUS ZenWatch. This device will take on a form not all that unlike the first ZenWatch revealed at IFA 2014, just under one year ago, in Berlin, Germany.

Acer’s bringing gaming PCs and tablets to IFA

This week invites are going out to Acer's big event series at IFA 2015 in Berlin, complete with a teaser image. The image you see here has a big ol' power button amid some Batman-looking black swooping lines. The power button and the lines belong to one of Acer's gaming PCs, a "Predator" machine revealed at a small event earlier this year amid a few other early-view pieces of hardware, all in the gaming space. All with sharp angles and an aim for a place in your extravagant gaming PC and Android tablet-loving heart.

Microsoft’s IFA Keynote curiously leaves out smartphones

Microsoft has definitely been sending mixed, not to mention confusing, signals about smartphones lately. Even before Windows 10 Mobile or even Windows 10 itself hits the streets, Microsoft has already put its own smartphone business on notice. With IFA 2015 a month or so away, Microsoft is undoubtedly busy preparing for a post Windows 10 launch report. But while the company will be one of those to deliver a keynote there, the announcement ominously makes no mention of smartphones, hinting, at the very least, that we won't see one in September.

This week at IFA 2015 we've been given the opportunity to get some hands-on time with the ZTE Spro 2 Smart Projector. This device is a "2-in-1" projector with the ability to project AND use the device as a mobile hotspot. It runs Android and works with 200-lumens of light for projecting, and - like any good Android device - it's able to act as a Wi-Fi hotspot at the same time. This double-use device is as interesting as it is strange, that's for certain.
