Lenovo IdeaPad Z Series brings thin yet sturdy power to Windows 8

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z Series has been revealed this week with the Z500 and Z400 bringing up to Genuine Windows 8 Pro to a set of study, thin, and powerful notebooks. Unlike many of the devices revealed this week, the Z Series does not have a touchscreen interface. If you're looking for the Lenovo style and grace and want 10-finger multi-touch action on an all-in-one beast of a computer this Fall, you're in luck with the B Series. The Lenovo IdeaCentre B340 and B545 bring the heat with two giant displays - the B545 working with a 23-inch frameless screen and the B340 having a 21.5-inch screen which can also function as a high-def TV running independent of the PC's OS. Lenovo IdeaPad U510 Ultrabook brings disk tray to the show

It appears that Lenovo has decided to take the idea that ultra-thin computers cannot have a disk drive and throw it out the window with their newest Ultrabook, the IdeaPad U510 - and it's got Windows 8, too! This machine comes in at 0.83-inches thin and has a 15.6-inch HD display along with a full keyboard and - yes indeed - an internal DVD reader/writer and Blu-ray Disc drive that pops out to accept your disks whenever you need it. Lenovo IdeaPad Y Series brings UltraBay for interchangeable upgrades

This week the folks at Lenovo have revealed their IdeaPad Y Series with a brand new interchangeable HDD bay they've called the UltraBay. This HDD bay is able to swap out for dual-graphics cards, increased storage space, an an additional fan for cooling. Outside this is either the Y500 with a 15.6-inch display or the Y400 with a 14-inch display - and notebooks in black and red! Read The Full Story

Windows 8 makes manufacturers touchy at IFA 2012

This week in Berlin at IFA 2012 we’re seeing a large amount of manufacturers bringing on touchscreens and convertible, transformable, or otherwise completely strange Windows 8 computers. There’s everything from a flipping screen to a flat horizontal interface, and so many tablets that we don’t know where to begin. One thing they’ve all got in common: they’re attempting to make use of Windows 8′s ability to work with interactive touchscreens and gestures galore.

Liquid Image EGO HD Mountable Camera hands-on

We're in Berlin this week at IFA 2012 having a look at the Liquid Image EGO HD - a high definition mountable camera ready to take on the competition with both 12 megapixel photos and 1080p video capture. This device is also able to record video at HD 720p at 60 frames per second if you wish, all of it being stored on a 4GB microSDHC card that fits in the device - and comes with the unit as well, right in the box. Toshiba’s CAMILEO line getting three new full HD camcorders

Toshiba took some time at IFA 2012 today to announce three new cameras in its CAMILEO line of full HD camcorders. Sticking with the trend of the line, all three of these cameras can record video in 1080p resolution, and each one is geared toward a different subset of users. As you can see from the image below, there all quite small as well, which means that portability probably isn't going to be an issue. Read The Full Story

Dell IFA 2012 Wrap-Up

Today's the second major day of news from IFA 2012, and while Samsung and Sony both got their time in the spotlight yesterday (Samsung in particular had a lot to talk about, but Sony had some big announcements as well), today it's Dell's turn. It seems that everyone is jumping on the Windows 8 and Windows RT train lately, and Dell is no exception. Yesterday they unveiled their convertible hybrid in the U925t but today we have three new laptops with a more standardized look. ZTE Grand X IN appears as first ICS smartphone with Intel Inside

This week at IFA 2012 the folks at ZTE have introduced a brand new fabulous-looking Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone with an Intel Medfield processor inside. This device has an Atom X2460 under the hood for next-level processing power and works with a casing that's quite unique to the world of smartphone in its hatched-back battery cover physical patterning. The rest of the device looks rather like a Galaxy Nexus, and certainly hasn't changed a whole lot since we saw an earlier iteration just a few months back. Read The Full Story
