Toshiba has taken the wraps off of its new Android Honeycomb tablet, the Toshiba AT200, and we just spent some time up-close with the brand new slate here at IFA 2011. Toshiba only had a couple of units on hand at the show, only one of which was functional, but it’s the aesthetic that makes this slate particularly stand out. Far thinner and more pleasing to the eye than the Thrive, the AT200 also beats the existing thinnest Honeycomb slate, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Lenovo has announced a pair of new ultraportable computers with the debut of the U300 and U400 laptops at IFA 2011. The U300s Ultrabook is the Intel platform Ultrabook that has been in the news so much lately, and it is a more fully optioned machine than the normal U300. The U300s has a Core i7 processor inside that uses Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. It has tech inside to start up in about ten seconds thanks to the RapidDrive SSD tech. the U300s has a 13.3-inch screen with 4GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of SSD storage.

I just mentioned the new media player that Creative has unveiled at IFA 2011 and alongside the media player came another audio solution for gamers. The device is called the Sound Blaster Recon3D and it is designed to be able to connect to the Xbox 360 or PS3, and PC or Mac. The device connects to computers using a USB port. When connected the audio from the console or computer is greatly improved.

Creative has trotted out its latest media player today and the little thing is pretty cool looking. The player is called the ZEN X-Fi3 media player and it has a 2-inch screen and measures 65 x 45.5 x 12.5mm. The little player has a microSD card slot to add more music and video when you get low on internal storage. The player uses the X-Fi Crystallizer to make your tunes sound better.

All eyes have been on Samsung this morning, with the company’s compact tablet, the Galaxy Tab 7.7, finally breaking cover. It’s hard to argue with a better-than-720p Super AMOLED Plus display, Kindle-besting thinness and 10hr battery (at least on paper), but the big question hanging over the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is whether – like its predecessor – its potential success will be scuppered by the North American carriers.
Genius has announced a new Bluetooth device combined with a set of headphones that is now available in the US and Canada. The headphones made their official debut at IFA 2011 this week. The device is called the HS-905 BT and it may be perfect for the user that is thinking about picking up one of the new Bluetooth devices that are debuting at the show. Samsung’s bada platform has been something of a stealth OS until now, though one that’s seen surprising smartphone success in the market. Still, it’s remains on the down-low in comparison to Android, iOS and others, something Samsung hopes to change with bada 2.0 and the Wave 3. Can Samsung save the stylus? The Samsung Galaxy Note is the company’s main surprise at IFA 2011 this week, a MID-scale super-smartphone that offers a blend of phone and tablet functionality with a dash of paper notebook thrown in too. We thought the Galaxy S II was big, with its 4.3-inch display, and then were slightly more surprised by the Inspire 4G when that stepped up to 4.5-inches. The Galaxy Note, though, surpasses them both, with its huge 5.3-inch panel. Samsung brands it as HD Super AMOLED, and claims it’s the statistical midpoint discovered when consumers were polled for their thoughts on ideals of front visibility, single-handed operation, pen input and calling. Amongst about a trillion other products and projects announced this week by Samsung from IFA 2011 is this lovely new notebook computer, the Series 7 CHRONOS. This laptop will have an Intel Core i7 Quad Core processor, ExpressCache technology providing you with an extra 8GB of flash memory on your motherboard that you'd not otherwise have - Samsung noting that this means your web browsing will be 2 times as fast (based on tests done with Internet Explorer) and a 2 second wake up time. All this hyperactivity tied with a high quality 15-inch display inside a form factor Samsung lets us know is traditionally associated with a 14-inch model.

Samsung has tossed the interchangeable lens NX200 and a gaggle of lenses into the limelight at IFA 2011. The NX200 is a small and compact camera of the sort that has interchangeable lenses and the photo quality of a DSLR with the size of compact point and shoot. The NX200 is a 20.3MP camera with an APS-C CMOS sensor and the ability to shoot continuous photos at 7fps. The camera also boasts 100ms Advanced Auto focus.
