Intel’s 15nm Atom plans previewed

Intel's tiny chip ambitions have been revealed, thanks to a roadmap forecast slide the company prepared for IDF 2010 this past week.  According to the image, Intel are looking ahead to CPUs as small as 15nm; it's unclear from the slide, though, whether the number of processor icons indicate product ranges, number of cores or just general potency. Intel Stellarton Atom E600+FPGA promises flexible embedded devices

Intel has given a sneak peak of its upcoming Stellarton processor, a so-called configurable Atom chip due to hit the market in the first half of 2011.  Intel Stellarton couples an Atom E600 SoC - the new "Tunnel Creek" range of chips also fresh to IDF 2010 and intended for embedded devices - with an Altera FPGA (field-programmable gate array). Dell Inspiron DUO flipping tablet/netbook wows at IDF 2010 [Video]

Dell has surprised here at IDF 2010 by previewing their upcoming Inspiron DUO tablet/netbook hybrid device, with a rotating touchscreen display.  Details on the tablet are in short supply, but Dell did reveal that it runs Windows 7 Premium.  Normally the display is on the outside of the netbook lid, allowing it to be used as a slate, but when the lid is opened the screen rotates inward so as to be visible as a regular notebook.

Windows Media Center Embedded gets Acer Smart TV STB demo; Intel CE4200 unveiled

Intel may just have got its Atom CE4100 SoC into the Boxee Box, among other STBs, but they're not resting on their laurels; the company has just announced the new Intel Atom CE4200 SoC, the successor to the CE4100.  Meanwhile Microsoft and Acer have taken to the IFD 2010 stage to show off Windows Media Center Embedded, a combination of the existing Windows Embedded Standard 7 and the software company's existing Media Center variant. Intel AppUp store gets SEGA Mega Drive classics, B&N content and more

Intel's AppUp download store has hit "gold" status and gone live, having first started showing up on netbooks back in January.  The silicon manufacturer listed their new partners in AppUp at IDF 2010 today, including the news that SEGA will be porting Mega Drive classics over and that Barnes & Noble will also be adopting the store. Neofonie's WeTab has once again cropped up in an Intel presentation, this time at IFD 2010 where the company has confirmed it will go on sale on Tuesday September 21st.  The 11.6-inch slate will run MeeGo 1.0, with a custom UI adapted for finger usability. DisplayLink USB 3.0 Chip Focusing on Any Device, Any Display Connectivity

At this year's IDF, it looks like one of the main focuses is connectivity. Intel out 2011 Core CPUs at IDF 2010: 32nm Sandy Bridge

Intel has kicked off its Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2010 today, and they’ve wasted no time in detailing the 2011 range of Core processors we have to look forward to.  The second generation chips – based on Sandy Bridge technology – will go into production later in 2010 and begin showing up in computers early in 2011.
