Sony Xperia P ICS update rolling out

Sony has made good on its promise to update the mid-range Xperia P today, with an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade currently rolling out to users of the handset. Just with other Sony updates, you won’t be able to pull this one down over-the-air; instead, you’ll have to fire up the PC Companion software on your desktop or Bridge for Mac in order to get access to the new features Sony has added to the handset. Verizon Galaxy S III bootloader unlocked by hackers

The Samsung Galaxy S III Android smartphone has been released internationally as well as on each of the major carriers here in the USA, and now the Verizon model has had its bootloader unlocked. The first and perhaps most important reason this is important is that Verizon's model of the Samsung device was the only one to have a locked bootloader - and a separate model made for developers with said bootloader unlocked. The second reason this is important is that an unlocked bootloader, for those of you unfamiliar, means that users will be able to work with whatever software build now that they so choose. It's time for the 3.0.1 update to SwiftKey, one of the most in-depth 3rd party onscreen keyboards available for Android right this minute. This update takes the 3.0 update and adds several boosts to already existing features such as Smart Space - where before you were only getting spaces without tapping the space bar if you had everything spelled correctly, now there's two-word corrections and spacing as well. HTC One X 4.0.4 update rolling out today

The HTC One X shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, but the company has finally gotten around to updating Android to version 4.0.4. An OTA update will be rolling out to the international version of the HTC One X starting today, which includes several new features and overall tweaks to the operating system. Worldwide Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 sales this month; LTE in pipeline

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Note 10.1, the company's 10.1-inch pen-enabled Android tablet, will go on sale globally this month, with an LTE version following on later in 2012. The slate, announced back at Mobile World Congress in February, will initially be offered in WiFi-only and HSPA+ forms, each with a 1.4GHz quadcore processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and support for Samsung's new Learning Hub with stylus-aware education tools. Well folks, the end of Thursday is nearly upon us, which means we'll be kicking off the weekend soon. Today brought quite a bit more news about the Apple vs. Samsung trial than yesterday did, with Samsung's lawyer fighting back against allegations made by Apple's counsel. Things aren't looking too good for Samsung though, as it appears that Judge Lucy Koh has thrown out quite a bit of the company's evidence, and now Apple is requesting sanctions that uphold its patents based on yesterday's evidence leak. Ice Cream Sandwich grows 50% in latest Android platform stats

Google has released the latest breakdown of Android versions, with Ice Cream Sandwich continuing its slow penetration into handsets while Jelly Bean remains fledgling at best. The figures, based on active Android devices using the Play store within the past two weeks, confirm that 2.3 Gingerbread remains the most commonly used version of the open-source OS, with over 60-percent of installs. There are two new devices being revealed this week, the first being the Electrify 2, a Motorola device that takes everything that's great about Motorola's newest line of RAZR and ATRIX devices and puts it in a slightly different casing. The second device is a rough-and-tumble smartphone by the name of Defy XT, another Motorola smartphone that looks rather similar to the Defy, a Motorola smartphone sold by T-Mobile.
