We’ve seen the Nokia N9 hacked in the past to run Android (Ice Cream Sandwich, specifically), and now the handset has been given yet another lease on life with a Jelly Bean port. Sure, not everything will be working correctly, but matching the latest version of Android with a beautiful piece of hardware is hard to ignore. Work on the Ice Cream Sandwich port still continues, with a lot of features still not working, but hopefully that progress can be applied to Jelly Bean in the meantime. Read The Full Story

Huawei Ascend P1 hits UK in August at ZTE-spanking price

Huawei has announced UK availability and pricing of the slimline Ascend P1, the company's 7.69mm-thick Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone. The Ascend P1 will drop on Vodafone in early August, priced at free on a new, two-year agreement of £26 ($41) per month. HTC Desire HD ICS update still on track

At the start of the week a Telus upgrade schedule plan was discovered that showed the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Desire HD had been cancelled. The carrier cited poor performance as the reason why, although it wasn’t clear if the cancellation extended to unlocked and international models. The Raspberry Pi has definitely made some waves. Just the other day we saw a Korean company offering up a similar board with a quad-core processor, and now another affordable challenger is available. Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD coming in August for under $500

Huawei announced a plethora of devices back at MWC 2012, one of which was the MediaPad 10 FHD tablet. Things have been pretty quiet regarding the tablet, but Yu Chengdong, Senior Vice President of Huawei, has taken to Weibo to give everyone an update on the specs and release date of the tablet. OUYA Kickstarter blasts past $5m mark

This week the Kickstarter phenomenon known as OUYA has reached $5 million dollars pledged for their Android-based gaming console with 22 days left to go. This amount of cash for a project such as this is fantastic on its own, but given the group’s $950,000 goal at the start of the project, it’s become a whole new animal since it started less than a month ago. With more than 5 times their original seed money request, it’s time for the developers and engineers behind the project to seriously reconsider their futures in their respective fields – things are looking up!

LG Optimus Vu spotted with Verizon markings

It appears very much like LG will be bringing their rectangular 5-inch display-having Android device known as the Optimus Vu to Verizon this summer if a leaked photo is to be believed. This photo (seen in the gallery below) comes via Android Police who note that this device will likely take the place of the Galaxy Note that's now headed to T-Mobile instead. This week the folks at Boost Mobile and Kyocera have announced the final release date for the Kyocera Hydro, a device which we got our hands on earlier this Spring. This week the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note has been revealed with a bow on it, showing off its own unique selection of carrier-added apps and the same fabulous S-Pen as the original. This device has been released internationally as well as on AT&T's 4G LTE network, while this newest release, set for later this summer, will be coming with T-Mobile's 4G - that being HSPA+, not quite LTE. T-Mobile has announced that this device will be popping up with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box in "the coming weeks" with a specific date showing its face much sooner than that. This week a member of T-Mobile's PR team has made a tiny, yet significant announcement via Twitter - that the Samsung Galaxy Note will, indeed, be coming to the carrier. This device has been rumored and pictured attached to the carrier several times in the past few weeks and months, this move by T-Mobile being the one push needed to get customers of T-Mobile thinking about whether it'll be this or the Samsung Galaxy S III they'll be choosing this summer. This version of the Galaxy Note will likely be basically the same as the AT&T version of the device, devoid of a physical home button and toting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box. If you take a moment to think about the oldest Android device that will be receiving an update to Ice Cream Sandwich, the HTC Desire HD would be near the top of the list. The handset would certainly be up to the task, featuring a single-core Snapdragon S2 processor and 768MB of RAM.
