Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar isn't just talking about BlackBerry tablets these days, he's also heard whisperings of Motorola getting into the sizeable slate business. According to The Street, Kumar is warning investors to expect a Motorola rival to the iPad in November 2010, with a 10-inch touchscreen display and running Google's Android 3.0 Gingerbread OS.

ICD Gemini prototype gets hands-on: buggy but promising, coming Summer 2010
The ICD Gemini certainly wows when it comes to hardware specifications, but anybody can write a glowing spec-sheet and throw together some renders; happily, ICD aren't all talk and no trousers. Stuff have grabbed some hands-on time with a Gemini prototype and even have an estimated UK release date to go with it: August 2010, apparently, with carrier support bringing prices to roughly iPad parity.

ICD Gemini takes on iPad: 1GHz Tegra 2, 3G, multitouch & Android
Last we heard of ICD, the company were showing us their Tegra 2-based Vega and Ultra tablets at CES 2010; now they're back with details of a new model, the ICD Gemini, again using the second-generation 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra chipset and now paired with an 11.2-inch touchscreen (using either a resistive or capacitive panel, both of which support multitouch). Android does duty as the OS, and the specs certainly don't disappoint at first glance: integrated 3G with voice functionality, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, together with USB peripheral support and twin cameras.

Tegra 2 “serious issues” delaying Notion Ink, ICD & Compal tablets [Updated]
Bad news if you've been avoiding iPad hype and holding out for a tablet based on NVIDIA's second-gen Tegra chipset. We've just heard from a trusted source that all projects based on the new Tegra chip have been delayed, and that none are expected to arrive on the market before late August 2010. The issue - which is said to include a combination of hardware and software technical problems, as well as stability and Flash availability - will impact projects such as Notion Ink's Adam, the ICD Ultra and Vega and a 7-inch Compal tablet that had been expected to arrive in early June 2010.

CES 2010 has been quite an event for tablets, and we'll forgive you if your eyes have gone square trying to keep up with all the touchscreens on offer. One of the names that has cropped up a couple of times - and attached to carriers who'll be distributing the tablets, no less - is ICD, who will be providing Verizon with an LTE tablet, the Ultra, and T-Mobile UK with a desktop tablet, the Vega. Verizon ICD Ultra LTE Tegra 2 tablet announced
Tablet manufacturer ICD are doing an excellent job of matching their touchscreen products to carriers right now, as hot on the heels of their T-Mobile Vega partnership comes word of an LTE collaboration with Verizon. The carrier has announced that it will be offering the ICD Ultra - a 7-inch Android slate based on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 chipset - with a Motorola 4G modem for high-speed LTE connectivity.

T-Mobile Vega Android tablet hands-on
Earlier today T-Mobile and ICD announced their intention to put a 15-inch Vega tablet into every UK household that would pay for one, and we promised to sit down with the two companies for a hands-on play. The Android-based Vega uses the Tegra 250 chipset that we now know as the NVIDIA Tegra 2, and T-Mobile are targeting the slate specifically at the “Mom” segment whom, they hope, will readily adopt it as the linchpin of their family lives.

T-Mobile UK to offer ICD Vega 15-inch Tegra Android tablet in 2010
Tablet manufacturer ICD have joined forces with T-Mobile UK to announce the carrier's "portable family hub tablet", the new ICD Vega. The 15-inch slate uses NVIDIA's Tegra 250 chipset and runs what will be a heavily customized build of Android 2.0 tailored to family use: that means shared calendars, internet access and SMS/MMS messaging support, with a T-Mobile SIM preinstalled for wireless connectivity.

ICD's 15-inch Android Vega tablet had us curious enough about the company, and now they've surprised us even more by unveiling a second Android-based device. ICD Vega 15-inch Android 2.0 tablet arrives 2010
Android's progressive spread to non-smartphone devices continues, with the latest manufacturer to jump on the open-source Google bandwagon to be Innovative Converged Devices (ICD). The ICD Vega will initially have a 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 resistive touchscreen, paired with NVIDIA's Tegra chipset, Android 2.0, integrated WiFi b/g/, Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G WWAN data, with the company expecting to ship the tablet in the first half of 2010 across hroughout North America, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
