Even iOS’s Siri is in on the Pokemon Go trend

While not quite everyone in the world has access to access to play Pokemon Go just yet, it's still quickly become one of the most downloaded apps of all time on iOS, and continues to rake in the money from purchases. There's no doubt it's the game of summer, and maybe even of 2016. It makes sense then that Siri, Apple's virtual assistant on iOS, even has knowledge of Pokemon Go, as it's been discovered that it will make a number of humorous responses when asked about the game.

iPhone 7 second speaker reportedly fake: Symmetry not stereo

Apple's reported decision to drop the iPhone 7 headphone socket would, so the leaks suggested, soften the blow by delivering more powerful sound from the handset overall, but new information suggests that may not actually be the case. Although leaks from multiple sources have shown the headphone jack-free bottom edge of the iPhone 7 having a pair of speaker grills, flanking either side of the Lightning socket, there's now chatter that the whole thing might be style not function.

VW’s SEAT gets first automaker app into Apple’s CarPlay

CarPlay may be Apple's attempt to redress the dashboard in an iOS outfit, but Spanish automaker SEAT has managed to squeeze a little of its own tech into the iPhone-powered infotainment. The company has launched a CarPlay compatible version of its SEAT DriveApp, which allows vehicle data and servicing information to be checked while still within Apple's interface.

We saw an iPhone 7 rumor resurrected today: that there's a 'deep blue' iPhone 7 color in the pipeline. Rumors about this fabled blue phone surfaced earlier this year, and again resurfaced today on a Czech website that posted high-resolution photos of a gold-colored iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus dummy unit. According to the website, the source of its photos, an online retailer called Topp Ten, claims there is a deep blue version of Apple's upcoming handset, though it didn't supply any photos of the supposed model.

Both the front and the rear sides of the iPhone 7 are shown in the photos, as well as one shot showing off what is said to be a dummy unit of the iPhone 7 Plus with a dual-lens camera on the back.

iOS App Store predicted to host 5 million apps by 2020

iOS App Store predicted to host 5 million apps by 2020

Earlier this year, Apple announced that the iOS App Store is now home to two million apps. That's an absurd number in its own right, but a new report from app analytics site Sensor Tower predicts that number could more than double to 5 million apps by 2020. That's a pretty huge prediction when you consider it took the App Store eight years to reach its two million milestone.

Far from a failure, iPhone SE is Apple’s sleeper hit

Far from a failure, iPhone SE is Apple’s sleeper hit

The iPhone SE has its fair share of critics, but those negative voices have done little to impact its popularity. According to a new report from Kantar, a research firm, the iPhone SE was Great Britain’s “top selling device” in the quarter that reached its end this past June. The iPhone SE barely beat out the iPhone 6s, holding 9.2-percent of sales in the region versus the iPhone 6s smartphone's 9.1-percent. The EU5 saw iOS growth during the quarter, as well.

September 7 said to be the iPhone 7 release date

All signs may point to Apple's new smartphone coming in September, but just when exactly is the iPhone 7 release date? Anyone with even a passing interest in mobile is keeping at least one eye on rumors around the Cupertino firm's newest handset, with tidbits like dual cameras and, for the first time, a move away from a physical home button all among the whispers, but the big question is always around when we can see the iPhone 7 for real.

After iPhone 7 release, a glass iPhone 7 Pro for 2017

We’ll probably be seeing Apple’s new iPhone next month, but speculation is already looking far into the future, and that future may include a glass casing. Foxconn has been tipped in an effort to develop its own glass phone casings, something sources say it has been working on for the past year or so to perfect in time for the 2017 iPhones; it is also reportedly developing its own high-end OLED technologies thanks to its Sharp acquisition in a bid to take on Samsung and China's Biel Crystal.

eBay for iOS adds Touch ID support and ‘One Time Password’

eBay has updated its mobile apps, and while the Android update is pretty small (it just adds Android Wear support), the iOS update adds a couple of big features: support for Touch ID and a new one time password feature. Both features aim to improve the app’s overall security, and the Touch ID support in particular has long been requested by users. The one time password option will also be coming to the desktop and Android versions of the service.

New Pokemon Go update : Sightings brings back footprints… sort of

This morning Niantic released an update to Pokemon GO which changed several very important elements in the game. This update was for both Android and iOS for iPhone and iPad, and users should expect to see footprints returning to the game soon. Not the same footprints as they saw when the game was launched - not a number of steps according to how close to or far away from a Pokemon the user was. This new update for Pokemon GO has two sections - Sightings and Nearby.

New iPhone 7 release date feature promises a giant launch

New iPhone 7 release date feature promises a giant launch

The new iPhone 7 coming later this year will likely be one of Apple's biggest launches ever. Not just because the "tick" year of Apple's tick-tock releases is generally the bigger year in sales, but because this version of the iPhone looks and acts different from the last one. While the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were bigger than the iPhone 5s, and the iPhone 5 was bigger than the iPhone 4s, functionality has been largely the same since the beginning of the device line. Today a new feature rumor has been reinforced.
