It's the middle of the week already, but we're studiously counting down the days until the end of the month. There are going to be quite a few exciting things in August, and we're hoping for even a couple surprises, so you'll have to forgive our foresight. But, let's try to stay focused on the present, at least for a little while longer. Welcome to the Wednesday night edition of The Daily Slash. Apparently there's still some room for a rumor mill about the iPhone 4 and T-Mobile to exist. That's good. We hate it when our mills get shut down. Just takes away all of our fun. Today's nugget of joy comes from Cult of Mac, and it goes on to say that the iPhone, not necessarily the iPhone 4, mind you, is definitely coming to the fourth largest wireless carrier in the United States. Well, consider us interested.

When it comes to Apple and Verizon Wireless, there's definitely no shortage of rumors. And, while the mainstay of those rumors has been the iPhone since 2007, the official launch of the smartphone from Cupertino, we shouldn't be surprised at all that rumors have begun to pick up for the new tablet from Steve Jobs and company. The next time you're in a San Jose bar, you should start watching where you step. Because you could be the next lucky person to pick up a never before seen phone. You know, like the iPhone HD. That's exactly what happened to an unnamed person today. According to Engadget, the pictures just made it to their inbox, and, while we can't say whether or not we're convinced, these are definitely doing their best to sway our opinion. Apple iPhone HD Back Covers Are Fake; We Aren’t Surprised

No surprise here. Those supposed iPhone HD back covers we showed you? Yeah, they're fake. Who would've thought, right? If the all-aluminum back wasn't a dead giveaway, or the hard edges making a flat back, there was also that tricky little detail about the photos making their way through Photoshop a few times. Well, thanks to the proprietor of those mock-ups, we can definitely check them off as a great falsehood.
