eBay updated its iOS app today with a few new features, including a new look and feel to the user interface, as well as the ability to check out multiple items at the same time using the shopping cart in the app. However, one of the more impressive features is the ability to register for an account through the mobile app by simply scanning your driver's license. Google+ Hangouts take chat cross-platform: Web, Android, and iOS

This week at Google I/O 2013, a new application has been introduced to take on cross-device and cross-platform communication: Hangouts. This system expands on what’s existed inside Google+ with a Hangout, turning chat both text and video to come with a user wherever they go. This system allows for saving of conversations, photos, video, and media of all types, sharing made as smooth as it has been inside Google+, now here on the web, in Android, and in iOS all at once.

Flipboard update brings SMS sharing, proves that text messaging isn’t dead

Flipboard has updated its iOS app to add even more features on top of the recently-updated 2.0 version that was released on iOS and Android not too long ago. Today's update brings new profile pages, a new "Friends" category, improved sharing that now comes with SMS support, and the ability to save an image to your camera roll by tapping on it. iPad Smart Cover magnets could affect implanted defibrillators

It's been discovered that the magnets in an iPad Smart Cover are strong to deactivate implanted heart defibrillators, according to a 14-year-old student who discovered the findings during her science fair project. It would appear that the analysts at NPD DisplaySearch have run the numbers and decided that the iPad mini with full retina-quality display is well on its way. They've made it clear in their most recent report that the iPad mini's first big update will be appearing in the third quarter of 2013, if all goes well, with another update soon after. As the next release from Apple approaches after the most recent change in Apple's approach with a smaller-sized iPad in the iPad mini, analysts have suggested that a lower-cost iPhone has become inevitable. What Mark Moskowitz and Gokul Hariharan of J.P. Morgan have suggested this week is Apple's approach toward a segment in the market hit by the iPad mini since its release last year. As the iPad mini took the middle-market between the $199 tablets and the $499 tablets popular last year at this time, so too will Apple move in on the mass market once more with a new lower-cost iPhone.
