Dream JB planned to release fake iOS 6 jailbreak earlier than December 22

Last night, the highly-anticipated untethered iOS 6 jailbreak that hundreds of thousands of people were waiting on turned out to be fake, with the jailbreak download files actually just linking to a Rick-rolling video on YouTube. Many notable iOS hackers knew it was all a hoax from the beginning, but there were certainly some excited users who thought that, just maybe, it was all real. We ended up getting a hold of Dream JB himself to hear what his thoughts were on what he called a "social experiment."

A hacker by the name of "Dream JB" has announced that he'll be releasing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 on December 22, and it will be compatible with newer iOS devices like the iPhone 5, iPad mini, the 4th-gen iPad, and the new iPod Touch.

TomTom updates for iPhone 5 and iOS 6 (but loses Google Local Search)

TomTom has updated its iOS app to play nicely with iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, though the company has stripped ill-fated Google functionality out at the same time. The new version of the app, v1.12, works hand in hand with Apple's own Maps app, showing up as a routing option in the iOS 6 software, but removes the Google Local Search feature as Google itself has discontinued it.

Apple airs two new iPhone 5 commercials

Today, Apple posted up two new iPhone 5 commercials on their YouTube account. One is titled "Orchestra" and the other is called "Turkey." Obviously, we knew they would release a Thanksgiving-themed ad, so we're not too surprised here. However, the two advertisements focus on smaller features of the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 -- Photo Stream and the ambient noise sensor.
